ASIAN THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY Offers
New Testament Exegesis 1: NT Narrative and Hebrews This course teaches basic exegetical skills needed for interpreting the Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, and the Book of Hebrews. Special attention will be focused on developing skills in interpreting parables and in reading Acts to discern what is normative for today. The NT history, the intertestamental history, relevant literature of intertestamental Judaism, and the historical reliability of NT stories will be touched briefly, especially in relation to their significance for interpretation. The process and goal of exegesis is transformative application to the students' personal, family, school, church and social contexts. (3 units) Prerequisites: Introduction to the Bible, Hermeneutics and Theological Reflection
