OFFICE PROJECTS

NYUGATI RAILWAY STATION

Aligned with the strategical vision of Budapest 2030, the overall structure of the mas terplan lays its fundament on the green network, restoring the lost connections be tween the surrounding neighborhoods and the natural ecosystems. The project founds its inspiration in the wider cultural and natural landscape of the Budapest region. It’s constructed ecologies create a dynamic and immersive landscape setting for contem porary urban living. The green layer of the new Nyugati masterplan provides a contin uous connection with the green corridors towards the north-west green areas outside Budapest, aiming to become a new attractor of biodiversity in the city center, poten tially establishing new relations between the users and the Nature of the surrounding.

The proposition is based upon a restorative design strategy to transform the brown field into a living system which include water management and treatment, habitat creation and infrastructure mitigation. It will express and articulate the entwinement of the biological and the cultural and celebrate both biodiversity and cultural diversity. The green elevated walkways above the railway provide a ‘close–up’ to nature and a varied experience of strolling through the canopy of trees, while connecting the two sides of the city proving lookout points for trainspotting. A widespread wildflower meadow creates a vibrant and dynamic seasonal landscape of ‘calculated casualness’ ensuring a feeling of light, air and space.

The site will become a hotspot of biodiversity and a refuge for migrating flora and fauna. The Ecozone, with its nature and topography for mitigation, will extend along the railway corridor forming an ecological steppingstone as part of a strategic ‘green ray’ toward Budapest Centre.

The extensive use of Nature Based Solution will ensure an optimal outdoor comfort of the open space throughout the year, expressing the seasonality of the landscape.

The vision emphasizes pedestrian safety while prioritizing community building, education and environmental resilienc y. The master plan proposes a series of pedestrian corridors that connect residential and commercial areas, link

a connection among the 3 chosen locations since this connection is highly improving the impact of these spaces towards its surrounding, environment and user experience.
