Ryan Trevathan enters his fourth year at Arkansas Tech and is in his third year as offensive coordinator. Trevathan joined the Wonder Boys’ staff in January 2019 as the wide receivers coach. Prior to the 2020 season, which was not played due to COVID-19, Trevathan was promoted to offensive coordinator. In his first full year of game action as OC in 2021, Trevathan engineered an offensive unit that averaged 347.8 ypg of total offense. That overall production was a balanced effort as the passing game averaged 203.6 ypg and the running game racked up 144.2 ypg.

Prior to coming to Tech, Trevathan spent two years as the offensive coordinator at Pearl River Community College (Poplarville, Miss.) and two other years pervious to that stint as the OC at Northeast Mississippi Community College (Booneville, Miss.).

After his inaugural season in Poplarville in 2017, eight offensive Wildcats signed with four-year programs, including offensive linemen Gerald Bell (Troy) and Tyrin Arceneaux (Nicholls State), Jamarcus Holmes (Tusculum College), Tremaine Chatman (Tusculum College), Tyler Harris (North Carolina-Pembroke), receiver Malcolm Staten (ArkansasMonticello) and running back Caleb Batie (Missouri Southern State). One of PRCC’s biggest success stories in 2017 was the emergence of quarterback Markevion Quinn. The dynamic quarterback didn’t hold a four-year offer out of high school, but after passing for 943 yards and six touchdowns and running for 879 yards and 17 scores, Quinn signed with Memphis prior to the start of the 2018 season.

The Wildcat offense proved to be one of the best in school history with Trevathan’s guidance. PRCC’s 3,822 total yards were the eighth-most in school history, while the team’s 2,399 yards rushing were the most since 1994.

At Northeast Mississippi, Trevathan’s 2015 offense averaged 301 yards per game and scored 24 total touchdowns. The Tigers improved drastically in his encore season, averaging 366.1 yards and finding the end zone a total of 31 times. In just two seasons with NEMCC, Trevathan saw 12 offensive players go on to four-year schools, including quarterbacks Mason Cunningham (Liberty) and Kendrick Doss (Jacksonville State), running backs Kenzie Phillips (Mississippi College) and Tiberias Lampkin (Mississippi College), offensive linemen Jo’Quarius Savage (Louisiana-Monroe), Ethan Smart (Purdue) and Ryan Baysinger (Arkansas-Monticello), tight end Ross Painter (Arkansas State), and receivers Jaylon Fair (Oklahoma-Panhandle), Joe Horn, Jr. (Missouri Western), Donta Armstrong (West Alabama) and Khalid Kornegay (Regina).

Trevathan is a native of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and graduated from Jonesboro High in 2007. He was an undergraduate student assistant coach at Arkansas State during his four years at ASU, graduating in December 2011 with a degree in physical education.

After his time at ASU, Trevathan spent three seasons at Ole Miss, serving as a graduate assistant in 2012-13 and working specifically with tight ends before becoming a full staff member in 2014 as a quality control coach. During his time on the Rebel sideline, Ole Miss produced two of its three best offensive seasons in school history, including a record 6,153 yards in 2013. Under Trevathan’s tutelage, Ole Miss saw tight end Evan Engram become an All-SEC and All-American selection before leaving Oxford as a first-round NFL draft pick by the New York Giants. Trevathan and his wife, Morgan, have four children, Kaden, Hudson, Ellie and Rowan.
