Bangalore Palace – Bearing a close resemblance to the majestic Windsor Castle, the construction of Bangalore Palace was
commissioned by the British general Rev. Garrett in 1862. Upon completion, the King of Wodeyar Dynasty, Chamaraja Wodeyar, bought the palace in 1884. With a sprawling area of more than 45,000 sq.ft., it almost took a century to complete. This grand palace is known for its impressive architecture, which is guaranteed to leave you spellbound. Following the Tudan style of architecture, the palace is divided into two floors with long hallways and assembly halls filled with some fine pieces of artwork and exported decorative materials. Lal Bagh – This famous botanical garden is situated in the southern part of Bangalore. Lal Bagh which translates as Red Garden, was
established by King Hyder Ali, with some final completion and renovation work added by his son Tipu Sultan. Spread on an area of more than 240 acres with more than 1000 species of flora and fauna, the garden also consists of several flowerbeds, lawns and lotus pools. Every year, during the months of Spring, the garden is decked with arrays of flowers for a grand show. You can take an auto or bus to reach Lal Bagh, which is well connected with all the parts in the city. The park stays open from 6am to 7pm.
Seshadri Iyer Memorial Hall – A popular tourist site known for its classic Victorian architecture, this is one of those few places in Bangalore you definitely need to visit. Established in memory of the Diwan of Mysore kingdom, Shri. K.Sheshadri Iyer, it was the British viceroy Lord Curzon who commemorated the construction of this epic monument impressed by his sincere service. The Seshadri Iyer Memorial Hall is situated in the Cubbon Park, which is the central administrative block of Bangalore.
Vidhana Soudha – The administrative block of the city, housing the state secretariat is one architectural marvel you should definitely visit. Made with red bricks and stones the structure is about 50 m tall, making it the tallest building in the city. The Vidhan Soudha represents a
traditional Dravidian style of architecture with spacious central hall and long corridors leading to offices. The front lawn the of the structure fulfills recreational needs of the people, who could be found picnicking. As sun sets, the structure is beautifully illuminated and is visible from all corners of the city.
