The Role of an Architect VS Integrity and Sustainability. The architect is simply the creator, she works plainly with raw materials, light, space, void and mass, colour, and structure firm adherence to a code of especially moral and artistic values to concieve a development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

When designing the herbarium I considered how to place a new public building structure that compliments the neighbouring buildings but also make it a significant building structure . That is where the concept of a sculputural building structure specifically for the exhibition space comes in. In order for the museum to create an expression of the building to be an exhibit itself.

The museum exhibition space is the sculptural structure designed with brick cladding and only two significant oppenings on the structure , the top skylight window which is a crown on the building and the semi circular arch window oppening at the front. “Buildings are deeply emotive structures which form our psyche. People think they’re just things they maneuver through, but the makeup of a person is influenced by the nature of spaces.” -David Adjaye-

OFFICE BUILDING LOCATION:DISCHKA BLOCK PECS. TYPE : PUBIC BUILDING. TERM :DESIGN STUDIO. The former clinical block of the University of Pécs moved to new buildings during the Modern Cities development, leaving the buildings in the city centre without function. The block is located on the south-western edge of the historic city centre, Due to the removal of the clinical buildings, there is an opportunity for a functional rethinking of the area.

20

The idea is to create a new use that will be organically linked to the vibrant administrative centre of the regional centre, stopping and reversing the amortization of the block and bringing a qualitative change to its buildings and their surroundings.

The project aims to design an office building that can be flexibly adapted to the different tenant needs, for large, medium and small units. The floor plan should allow for multi-tenant design. The location of units, typically around 400 m2 or larger, is organised by the positioning of vertical walkways.

DESCRIPTION

FLOORPLAN

While on retreat , one should feel relaxed but not necessarily ‘at home’ .

The Meditation shelter is a community institution, conceived around the basic principles of yoga practices, demanding the generation of an architectural program focused on creating a Yoga studio to fulfill the needs of yoga practitioners from Mescek hill area and its neighboring towns. Being a place for the practice of yoga and meditation, space is neutral and relaxed. Nature and environment act as the main protagonists, integrating interior spaces and landscape. The Interior meditation space has multifuctions and can be utilised for private sessions and group sessions as the room can be split into three different spaces and as well be utilised a one large space. Changes in natural light transform spaces further, achieving an atmosphere that is propitious for meditation practices and the individual achievement of mindfulness. Cross ventilation across the room, making sure that there is a current renew of oxygen inside during the session or at the times when the room is not being occupied.

The materials used are wood and glass, providing a serene, beautiful and austere environment, where light plays a fundamental role. The materials are balanced with each other, since wood gives warmth, connection with the earth and glass reflection of light.
