Kopi and its Third Wave is a new movement, beginning 2002, to redefine coffee as an artisanal, fine food rather than a mere commodity. Among the younger generation, this has led to an increase of interest in all stages of coffee production, beginning from planting and harvesting, to every parties that are involved - be it growers, traders and roasters, to higher quality of roasting and brewing. Kopi project aims to connect two cultures the modern coffee cultures and traditional cultures by the means of design. Coffee from seven regions of Indonesia are collected and branded with none other than their own traditional identity : textile patterns.
