Coach Flo First-Year Highlights Hasina Muhammad scored 20 points, leading Auburn to a 71-41 win over Maine in the 2012-13 season-opener, giving Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy her first victory as Auburn’s head coach. Blanche Alverson was one of five Tigers to score in double figures, tallying a team-high 17, as Auburn downed Alabama State, 80-43. The win was Coach Flo’s first at Auburn Arena and one of 15 home wins for the Tigers, the most ever for a season in the facility’s history.
Peyton Davis pulled down 17 rebounds, a mark that is tied for 27th all-time at Auburn, helping the Tigers to a 50-47 win over #23 Arkansas. The win was Coach Flo’s first SEC win and first win over a ranked team as Auburn’s head coach.
Tyrese Tanner notched a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds, leading Auburn to a 72-52 win over Tulane and a berth in the WNIT quarterfinals.

Home of the Tigers Auburn Arena The Auburn University Board of Trustees approved the building of the new $92.5 million Auburn Arena and Practice Facility on June 29, 2007. The Auburn Arena has a capacity of 9,121. It includes more than 29,000 square feet of student-athlete space, a two-court practice facility, coaches’ offices, the Auburn University Athletic Ticket Office, an AU Team Store, the relocated Lovelace Museum and Hall of Honor, two food courts and many other amenities. Designed by 360 Architecture out of Kansas City, Mo., the 243,792 square foot facility is located northwest of Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum off Heisman Drive, across the street from the new Student Recreation and Wellness Center. The Auburn Arena is an important recruiting tool for the Auburn men’s and women’s basketball teams. It features student-athlete facilities such as men’s and women’s locker room suites with sports medicine facilities, lounges and team meeting rooms. In addition to the two-court practice facility that allows the men’s and women’s teams to practice simultaneously, a strength and conditioning center is located adjacent to the practice courts with sliding doors, allowing a seamless flow from weight training to practice.
When it comes to seating in Auburn Arena, fans are right on top of the action. The arena features chair back seats along with bleacher seating for students. It also offers sight lines that move fans close to the court. The furthest seat is 43 feet in elevation from court-side with two-thirds of the seats in the facility being less than 27 feet in elevation from court-side. In addition, the arena features 12 court-level luxury suites that open to the outside of the arena for multiple entertaining opportunities throughout the year. Loge Box seating is also available as well as on-site food preparation. The scoreboard features a high-definition video board with full message/ information center technology. Students enjoy a private entrance, a private court-side commons and food court. The facility also serves as more than a sports complex. With more than 12,000 square feet of banquet/entertainment space, its design affords ready adaptation into a site for concerts and other cultural events, convocations and various community gatherings.
A Postseason Home In the facility’s short history, Auburn Arena has already played host to three postseason events. It was a host site for NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds in 2011 and was back in use the next year as a site for a 2012 NCAA Gymnastics Regional. Most recently, it served as a host site for Auburn’s four Women’s NIT games during the 2012-13 season.
Coach Flo and her staff led the Tigers to 15 home wins during the 2013-14 season. Both the number of wins and the .789 home winning percentage were the best ever for the Tigers in Auburn Arena.

Locker Room The locker room in Auburn Arena features all the amenities a student-athlete could want. Along with the customary locker area with showers and restrooms, the locker

room also includes a team/video room with theater seating, a full-service training room, a snack and refreshment area, equipment room and a lounge/study area. The player lounge includes four LCD televisions with video gaming systems. The locker room is also conveniently located between the practice courts and the main Arena.

Practice Facility In Auburn Arena, the basketball teams have exclusive access to a practice facility that covers nearly 14,000 square feet. The facility features two regulation basketball courts with an additional four goals on the sides. Each court also has its own independent timing system and scoreboard.
The Auburn Women’s Basketball Athletic Training Room is conveniently located inside the women’s basketball locker room, adjacent to the practice facility. The facility is a fully-functioning open floor plan with treatment and taping tables, a multitude of therapeutic modalities and an array of rehab equipment. Attached is a hydrotherapy room containing both Grimm Hot and Cold Whirlpools. The location of this facility allows for the use of the arena weight room and practice courts for complete and thorough rehabs.

Weight Room Directly attached to the practice courts is the Auburn basketball weight room. The weight room features inlaid lifting platforms, Olympic bars and bumpers, Kaiser trainers, tendo units on every platform, a full weight range of dumbbells, Woodway treadmills and other various cardio equipment. The weight room is located all within easy access of the team’s practice courts, locker room and coaches offices.

South Donahue Residence Hall Just opened in the Fall of 2013 is the new South Donahue Residence Hall. The 245,000-square-foot facility is conveniently located across the street from the Auburn Athletic Complex and the Charlotte G. Lowder Academic Development Center. The residence hall is also convenient to most of Auburn’s athletic facilities, including Plainsman Park, the football practice facility, Auburn Arena, Jane B. Moore Field, the Auburn Soccer Complex, James E. Martin Aquatic Center, the Student Activities Center, Hutsell-Rosen Track and the McWhorter Center for Women’s Athletics. The building houses 426 undergraduate students and the units are primarily two bedroom, two bathroom suites with a living room and kitchenette. There are also a very limited number of four bedroom, two bathroom suites. Amenities include a washer and dryer in each suite, wall-mounted 42” flat screen T.V. in the living room, queen sized beds, quartz countertops and tiled bathrooms/showers. Auburn’s new Wellness Kitchen is currently being constructed across the street from the South Donahue Residence Hall.

South Donahue Wellness Kitchen The Wellness Kitchen is 13,170-square-foot facility being constructed across the street from the new South Donahue Residence Hall. Slated to be completed by July, 2014, it will offer indoor seating for 216 people with outdoor seating for 88. The facility will provide a healthy dining venue for students, staff and faculty. The Wellness Kitchen will have five action stations, a salad bar and frozen yogurt/ smoothie station. Students will have the opportunity to have fresh-grilled chicken or “healthy” burgers, stir-fry, or pasta, pizza or panini’s made to order, or more “comfort” foods on the hotline. They will be able to finish their meal with a fresh fruit smoothie or frozen yogurt.

Watson Fieldhouse Auburn’s former football strength and conditioning facility, Watson Fieldhouse, was renovated in 2013 to serve as a training facility for the Tigers’ Olympic sports. In Watson, there is a fueling station that is open from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. that provides student-athletes access to Gatorade Recovery shakes, recovery fruit smoothies, permissible energy bars, fruit, nuts, bagels and PB&Js. Headed up by Scott Sehnert, he oversees a staff that includes a graduate assistant and 15 volunteers. In his role as Sports Dietitian, Sehnert oversees the sports nutrition needs for AU’s 21 varsity sports including nutrition education, counseling, training tables, body composition analysis and supplement evaluation.

Denver Traveling Tigers The Auburn women’s basketball team travels in style, flying on 11 of its 13 road trips this season, nine of which are by charter jet out of the Auburn-Opelika Robert G. Pitts Airport. In the last 10 years, the Tigers non-conference trips have taken the team to the Bahamas, Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, New Orleans, San Diego, the Virgin Islands, Washington, D.C., Phoenix, Philadelphia, Palo Alto, Calif., Tampa and Miami During that stretch, Auburn has also gone on a European Tour in the summer of 2008 and an Australian Tour in the summer of 2012.

Ty Evans Assistant Coach Second Season at Auburn Alma Mater: Wisconsin-Whitewater, 1995 Hometown: Beloit, Wisc.
As a Player • Played at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater from 1992-95, earning a degree in secondary education. • He was a first team All-American for the Warhawks following the 1994-95 season. • Evans garnered two-straight all-conference honors and led the Warhawks to the NCAA tournament twice • Played one season at Richmond before transferring to Wisconsin-Whitewater, helped the Spiders to a CAA championship and a NCAA Tournament berth. • Played professionally overseas in Norway and Taiwan. • Was inducted into the Wisconsin-Whitewater Hall of Fame in 2010. • Named to the Beloit Historical Sports Hall of Fame in 2012. Koch played all four years at Missouri State for head coach, helping Missouri State win the WNIT Tournament in 2005. During her tenure, the Bears made three NCAA appearances. Koch ranks third in Missouri State history in points scored after the Elsberry, Mo., native scored 2,073 points in her career, while averaging 20.2 per game her senior season. He and other members advise the Secretary and the Department’s leadership on student recruitment, research, campus and community preparedness and other issues. Before returning to Auburn, President Gogue served as president of New Mexico State University beginning in 2000 and, in 2003, he was named president of the University of Houston and chancellor of the University of Houston System. He started his higher education administration career in 1986 at Clemson University as vice president for research and vice president/vice provost for agriculture and natural resources. Utah State University selected him as provost in 1995. community service The Tigers are active in the Auburn community, volunteering their time to work with special needs children at Storybook Farms, reading at local elementary schools, mentoring programs and numerous other service-based projects throughout the year. Some of the programs are player-initiated, including Blanche Alverson’s Ballin’ For Books that collected more than 2,500 books for area reading programs. Last summer, Tyrese Tanner started her own program, BraveHearts With Basketball, that works with special-needs children through basketball.

Physical Development Under the direction of strength and conditioning coach Megan Young, the Auburn Tigers have a comprehensive strength and development program focused on making them the best basketball players they can be. Using the state-of-the-art facility located in Auburn Arena, the Tigers have the ability to work on cardio training, core development and strength training. Directly attached to the practice courts is the Auburn basketball weight room. The weight room features inlaid lifting platforms, Olympic bars and bumpers, Kaiser trainers, tendo units on every platform, a full weight range of dumbbells, Woodway treadmills and other various cardio equipment. The weight room is located all within easy access of the team’s practice courts, locker room and coaches offices.

The program includes a staff of seven full-time Academic Counselors, two Learning Specialists and two Eligibility Specialists. Charlotte G. Lowder Student Athlete Development Center The Charlotte G. Lowder Student Athlete Development Center, with 33,000 square feet of dedicated space to students and learning, gives Auburn University the physical infrastructure that allows the ability to implement and expand the array of programs designed to enhance the academic performance of Auburn student-athletes. Located adjacent to the Auburn Athletic Complex, the facility is centrally located for easy access for all Tiger athletic teams. The construction of the Student Athlete Development Center was made possible by the generosity of Robert and Charlotte Lowder and from the Lowder Family Foundation.
Former Tiger Blanche Alverson, a 2013 graduate, was twice named SEC Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

More than 95 percent of our alumni say that if they could start college over again, they would choose Auburn. Auburn’s Draughon Library is the largest library in the state. The Auburn University Libraries contains 3.2 million volumes and subscribes to 19,000 journals and 256 electronic databases. It also serves as an instructional resource for faculty and houses a new Learning Commons for students and one of two locations for the new Miller Writing Center. Auburn People AU has awarded degrees to more than 238,314 students since it began in 1856. Currently, we have approximately 219,188 living alumni around the world. There are close to 100 Auburn clubs around the country whose primary goal is to raise scholarships for incoming freshmen. The Auburn Alumni Association and Auburn Club Program awarded a total of 190 scholarships for the 2012 - 2013 school year. Six clubs have endowments of more than $100,000 and the Alumni Association Endowment stands at more than $4.8 million. One of the state’s fastest growing cities, Auburn has a population of about 57,000. An adjacent twin-city, Opelika, has a population of about 30,000. Atlanta, Ga., is only 100 miles to the northeast via Interstate 85; Birmingham is 100 miles to the north via U.S. 280 or I-85/65; Montgomery is 50 miles to the west via I-85; and the Gulf beaches are about 200 miles away. The university enjoys the advantages of security, seclusion and clean air and water. Auburn is a clean city with a mild climate that offers many cultural opportunities.
The Student Alumni Association, with membership of over 3,600 students, offers student scholarships for its rising senior members. The Auburn Alumni Association has more than 43,000 members and contributes close to $100,000 each year toward professorships and other faculty awards.
