AUBURN-LSU SERIES The home team has won 10 of the last 11 in the series. Auburn has lost its last five consecutive games in Baton Rouge, from 2001-2009. Prior to 2001, Auburn went 3-1 in Baton Rouge from 199399. There have been several memorable games between the teams in recent years: 2010: Auburn rushed for 440 yards, the fifthbest single-game total in school history, in a 24-17 win in 2010. QB Cam Newton rushed for 217 yards and a pair of TD’s, while RB Onterio McCalebb’s 70yard run in the fourth quarter was the game-winner. 2008: Jarrett Lee’s 18-yard touchdown pass to Brandon LaFell with 1:03 left gave No. 6 LSU a come-from-behind 26-21 win over No. 10 Auburn in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn had taken a 21-20 lead with just 6:40 left when Chris Todd found Robert Dunn for a 15-yard score, before Lee led LSU on the game-winning drive. 2007: Matt Flynn hit Demetrius Byrd with a 22yard scoring pass with just one second left to lift No. 5 LSU to a 30-24 victory over No. 18 Auburn. Brandon Cox had connected with Rodgeriqus Smith on a 3yard scoring pass with just 3:21 left to give Auburn a 24-23 lead before Flynn’s pass capped a 58-yard gamewinning drive. 2006: In a battle between two top-10 teams, Brandon Cox’s 1-yard quarterback sneak in the third quarter was the only touchdown in a 7-3 Auburn victory. No. 3 Auburn held off two late scoring chances for No. 6 LSU, as Eric Brock ended one drive by tipping away a fourth-down pass, then tackled Craig Davis on the 4-yard line on the game’s final play to preserve the victory. 2005: The first overtime game between the two teams was won by LSU, 20-17, when John Vaughn’s 39-yard field goal attempt bounced off the left upright. A 30-yard field goal by LSU’s Chris Jackson to start the overtime turned out to be the winning points. Jackson forced overtime with a 44-yard field goal with just 1:40 left, moments after Auburn had taken a 17-14 lead on a 5-yard pass from Brandon Cox to Anthony Mix on fourth down with 4:52 left. 2004: With the threat of Hurricane Ivan looming, members of the Auburn football team spent Wednesday though Friday nights in hotels as the Auburn University campus was closed, but the game went on as scheduled. The seemingly automatic extra point proved to be a challenge for both teams, but a second chance for Auburn allowed the Tigers to emerge with a 10-9 win in “The Extra Point Game.” LSU missed the PAT after its first-quarter touchdown, but still led 9-3 late in the game. After Courtney Taylor hauled in a 16-yard score with just 1:14 left to tie the score, Auburn missed its extra point. An LSU personal foul gave John Vaughn a second chance, and he delivered the winning point. 1997: Dameyune Craig led Auburn on an 80yard, 10-play drive in the game’s final three minutes to deliver a 31-28 upset of 10th-ranked LSU in “The Comeback.” Rusty Williams capped the drive on a 1-yard touchdown plunge with :30 remaining. LSU attempted a 65-yard FG on the game’s final play, but Quinton Reese blocked it to seal the Auburn win. 1996: “The Night The Barn Burned” will long be remembered on the Plains. As the old Auburn Sports Arena burned just outside Jordan-Hare Stadium, LSU defeated Auburn 19-15. After missing three field goals and an extra point, Auburn cut LSU’s lead to 17-15 with :38 remaining, but Jon Cooley’s two-point pass attempt was picked off by Raion Hill, who returned it the other way for two points. 1995: Wearing the traditional white jerseys at

home for the first time in 13 years, LSU stunned fifth-ranked Auburn, 12-6, when Troy Twillie intercepted Patrick Nix’s 11-yard pass into the end zone with no time remaining. The 1997 LSU media guide referred to this game under the heading “Bring Back The Magic.” 1994: Auburn returned three of its five fourthquarter interceptions for touchdowns to rally from a two-touchdown deficit and win 30-26. Auburn and LSU fans alike still recall the “Interception Game.” 1988: LSU scored with 1:41 remaining to down fourth-ranked Auburn, 7-6. The noise from the Tiger Stadium crowd registered on a campus seismograph, thus earning the contest the title of “Earthquake Game.” AUBURN-LSU TIES Auburn linebacker Ashton Richardson is the son of Al Richardson, who starred at linebacker for LSU from 1979-82. The elder Richardson earned All-American and first-team All-SEC honors as a senior, and still holds the LSU records for most tackles in a game (21) and a career (452). LSU tight ends coach Steve Ensminger coached at Auburn from 2003-08, coaching quarterbacks in 2003 before moving to tight ends from 2004-08. Ensminger was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Texas A&M in 1996 when Auburn offensive line coach Jeff Grimes was in his first year as an offensive graduate assistant for the Aggies. LSU offensive coordinator Gary Crowton was the head coach at BYU in 2004 when Grimes was in his first year as the Cougars’ offensive line coach. LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis held that same position at Tennessee when Auburn assistant head coach/wide receiver coach Trooper Taylor coached the Vols’ running backs (2004-05) and wide receivers (2006-07). LSU defensive line coach Brick Haley was the defensive line coach at Troy State from 1994-96, while Auburn director of football relations Wayne Bolt was the offensive line coach. Auburn safeties coach Tommy Thigpen was the cornerbacks coach and special teams coordinator at Bowling Green from 2001-02, while LSU offensive line coach Greg Studrawa coached the offensive line and LSU wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales coached the receivers for the Falcons. LSU Assistant AD/Football Operations Dr. Sam Nadar was a quarterback at Auburn from 196367. Nadar received his undergraduate degree from Auburn in 1967 and his master’s from AU in 1969. 2011 Auburn Football Game Notes the month of October dating back to 2009. Auburn has posted a winning record in the month of October in six of the last eight seasons. CHIZIK IN THIRD YEAR Gene Chizik is one of just three head coaches to have won a BCS National Championship with less than five years experience as a head coach at the college or NFL level. After taking Auburn to the BCS title in just his fourth season as a head coach, Chizik joined Bob Stoops (Oklahoma, 2nd year) and Larry Coker (Miami, 1st year) to have accomplished the feat. Stoops led OU to the 2000 BCS Championship, while Coker led Miami to the 2001 title. In two seasons at Auburn, Chizik has compiled a record of 27-7 and 14-6 in SEC play. Chizik became the first Auburn head coach to take the Tigers to a bowl game in his first season at the helm (2009). Chizik has been a part of three perfect teams in the past seven years, 2010 and 2004 with Auburn and 2005 with Texas. TIGERS GET DEFENSIVE In the first three games of 2010, the Auburn defense was allowing 36 points and 534.3 total yards per game, had given up a combined 64 percent third-down completions (35-of-55) and forced just two forced turnovers. In the last four games, however, the Tigers’ defense has show significant improvement allowing just 307.0 yards and 17.8 points per game, holding opponents to 30 percent (16-of-53) third-down conversions and forcing 11 turnovers. D-LINE LEADS THE WAY The Auburn defensive line has combined for 29 (66 percent) of the Tigers’ 44 tackles-for-loss this season and 9.0 (82 percent) of the team’s 11.0 sacks. Sophomore Corey Lemonier leads the line with 10.0 TFL’s, while sophmore Nosa Eguae is second with 5.0. Lemonier leads the Tigers with 6.0 sacks. No other Tiger has more than 1.0 sacks this season. TIGERS KEEP GATORS UNDER 200 YARDS The Auburn defense held Florida to 194 total yards which was the lowest offensive output for the Gators since 1990, a span of 268 games. The Tennessee Volunteers held the Gators to 194 yards in a 45-3 win on Oct. 13, 1990. In the 17-6 win vs. Florida, Auburn allowed the fewest points to an SEC team since a 3-2 win over Mississippi State on Sept. 13, 2008. The Tigers held Florida scoreless in the second half marking the first time the Tigers posted a second-half shutout an SEC opponent since Oct. 27, 2007, vs. Ole Miss in a 17-3 win. SPECIAL TEAMS STRENGTH Auburn’s special teams units have maintained their strong play from the beginning of the season and currently rank in the top three in the SEC in touchbacks (1st/2nd FBS, 21), punting average (3rd, 39.7 ypp), punt return defense (2nd/18th FBS, 3.9 ypr) and kickoff returns (2nd, 25.5 ypr). Additionally, Auburn is first in the SEC and second nationally with 22 punts inside the 20-yard line. AUBURN WR’S BLAKE & REED MIA The Tigers have played the past two games without WR Emory Blake (Blake had just one play vs. UF) and the last three games without WR Trovon Reed, both due to injury.

The duo had combined for 32 receptions, 424 yards and four touchdown’s while healthy. Auburn’s other five receivers have combined for 25 catches, 396 yards and two TD’s. AUBURN VS. AP #1 Auburn’s game against LSU marks the 11th time the Tigers have played a team holding a No. 1 ranking in the Associated Press top 25. Auburn is 3-7 in the previous 10 meetings, but 2-2 since 1994. The last time Auburn played a team ranked No. 1 was on Nov. 29, 2008, against Alabama. The Crimson Tide won that game 36-0. The Tigers’ last win over a No. 1 team came on Oct. 13, 2001, in a 23-20 victory over Florida in Auburn. Auburn’s other two victories over No. 1-ranked teams were a 36-33 win at Florida in 1994, and a 2713 victory over Georgia in Columbus in 1942. ON THE ROAD VS. TOP 10 Auburn will play three games in the month of October against teams ranked in the top 10 of the Associated Press poll, with all three of those contests on the road. It marks the first time in program history the Tigers will have played three top 10 teams on the road in one month. The Tigers defeated #10 South Carolina 16-13 on Oct. 1 in Columbia and lost to #10 Arkansas (3814) in Fayetteville on Oct. 8. The Tigers’ next ranked foe will be #1 LSU (Oct. 22) in Baton Rouge. The last time Auburn played three top 10 teams on the road in one season was in 2007 against #4 Florida (W, 20-17), #5 LSU (L, 30-24) and #10 Georgia (L, 45-20). LEMONIER SETS CAREER HIGHS Sophomore DE Corey Lemonier has overcome a quiet start to 2010 by recording 18 tackles, 8.0 TFL’s, 5.0 sacks and one forced fumble in the past four games. Through the first three games of the season Lemonier had just eight tackles, 2.0 TFL’s and 1.0 sacks. Against Florida, Lemonier set career singlegame highs with 3.0 TFL’s and 2.0 sacks and tied his career best with six tackles. Lemonier earned Rivals.com SEC Player of the Week honors for his performance against the Gators. MCCALEBB TIED FOR CATCHES Junior Onterio McCalebb is tied for first in the SEC in receptions for a running back with 19. South Carolina RB Marcus Lattimore also has 19 catches. The Fort Meade, Fla., native is tied for the team lead in receptions and is averaging 10.6 yards per catch this season with one TD. McCalebb has 32 career receptions for 345 yards. He is seven catches shy of moving into a tie for 10th in career receptions for a running back. Former fullback Carl Stewart holds the 10th spot with 39 catches from 2004-07. The last back to lead Auburn in receptions was Tucker Frederickson in 1964 with 14. CLOSING IN ON 1,000 Michael Dyer needs 248 rushing yards to reach 1,000 this season and become the fourth AU running back to record consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons. Dyer ran for an Auburn freshman-record 1,093 yards last season. The Little Rock, Ark., native is Auburn’s first

TIGERS PERFECT TWICE SINCE 2004 Auburn is the only Southeastern Conference team to record two perfect seasons since 2004, going 13-0 in ‘04 and 14-0 in 2010. Auburn quarterback Cam Newton rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns as No. 5 Auburn piled up 440 rushing yards, the fifth-most in a single game in school history and its most ever against a SEC opponent, to claim a 24-17 victory over No. 6 LSU and remain perfect at 8-0 on the year. Newton carried it 28 times on the afternoon and his backfield running mate Michael Dyer carried it 15 times for 100 yards as Auburn’s offense went for more than 500 yards (526) for the fourth time on the season. Deadlocked at 17-17 with just over six minutes left in the fourth quarter, Auburn took possession at its own 10-yard line and raced down the field in just three rushes. Newton went up the middle for 16 and Dyer went around right end for four to put Auburn at its own 30. The handoff to Onterrio McCallebb then went for 70 yards to give Auburn the touchdown and the lead with 5:05 left. The Auburn defense then stepped up to seal the win, focing a 4-and-out for LSU. Auburn dropped Stevan Ridley for a loss and gave up only two yards to quarterback Jarrett Lee on a fourth-and-6 play to take over posession. The Tigers then drove the ball all the way down to the 3-yard line, with Newton rushing for 25 yards along the way, and took a knee to let the clock expire for the victory. Auburn struck first in the game, going up 7-0 on its second possession of the game when Newton rushed up the middle for his 13th rushing touchdown of the season and 26th rushing or passing, tying Pat Sullivan for most touchdowns responsible for by an Auburn player in a single season. The run capped a six-play, 54-yard drive for Auburn. LSU answered with a nine-play, 41-yard drive which resulted in a 48-yard Josh Jasper field goal to make it 7-3 Auburn. Wes Byrum’s 42-yard field goal on Auburn’s next possession put Auburn back up by a touchdown, 10-3, with 12:30 remaining in the half, and also made him Auburn’s all-time leading scorer with 313 career points. LSU tied the game at 10-10 with just 15 seconds remaining in the first half when Jordan Jefferson finished off a 14-play, 78-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown dash. Auburn’s first possession of the second half was another quick one as it covered 91 yards in three plays with Newton sprinting 49 yards for the touchdown to give him the school record for touchdowns accounted for and SCORING SUMMARY LSU . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .3 7 0 7 — 17 a 17-10 Auburn lead. September 3, 2011 • ESPN2 Jordan-Hare Stadium (85,245) • Auburn, Ala.

Auburn used a pair of minute-and-a-half scoring drives late in the fourth quarter to overcome a 10-point deficit and defeat Utah State, 42-38, in the seasonopening game of the 2011 football season at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Barrett Trotter was 17-for-23 for 261 yards and three touchdowns through the air in his first career start while Michael Dyer led Auburn with 57 rushing yards. Trotter was one of 11 Tigers making their first collegiate start. Auburn also had 21 players make their first career appearance as a Tiger in the game. Of the 21, eight were redshirt freshmen and 13 were true freshmen. Trailing 38-28 with 3:38 remaining in the game after a Robert Turbin rushing touchdown for Utah State, Auburn covered 65 yards in just six plays to draw within three, 38-35. Trotter was 3-for-4 for 62 yards on the drive, capped off by a Philip Lutzenkirchen 15 yards touchdown catch. Auburn successfully converted an onside kick following the Lutzenkirchen score, with Emory Blake recovering the kick. That set up Auburn on its own 44 with 2:07 left in the game. Trotter was again 3-for-4 on the drive, covering 29 yards, while Onterio McCalebb rushed it three times for 26 yards, setting up Dyer for a one yard touchdown run up the middle for the game-winning score. Auburn had to rally from a 14 point deficit midway through the second quarter, trailing 21-7 after the first of two Turbin (22 rushes, 70 yards) touchdown runs. True freshman Tre Mason sparked the comeback with his 97 yard kickoff return following the Turbin touchdown, drawing Auburn to within a touchdown, 21-14, a score that would hold into halftime. Mason’s 97-yard return ranks as the eighth-longest in school history. He would go on to finish with 176 kickoff return yards, tying for the third-most in a game in school history. Dyer tied the game at 21-21 on Auburn's first possession of the second half, running it in from the 11 yard line to complete an 11 play, 65-yard drive. Auburn had five touchdown drives and only one lasted more than three minutes, it being the drive out of the half which lasted just 3:46. Three of the other four were just over a minute-and-ahalf while the other lasted 2:55. MISSISSIPPI STATE AUBURN #16

34 41

September 10, 2011 • SEC Network Jordan-Hare Stadium (87,451) • Auburn, Ala.

Ryan Smith made a game-saving tackle on Mississippi State quarterback Chris Relf at the goal line as time expired to preserve Auburn’s 41-34 victory over No. 16 Mississippi State on Sept. 10 at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The two teams combined for 28 first quarter points and 55 first half points before both defenses tightened up and Auburn won its 17th consecutive game, currently the longest in FBS. Barrett Trotter, who finished the game 16-for-23 for 146 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, hit tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen for a 10-yard touchdown pass just under a minute into the fourth quarter to give Auburn a 14-point cushion, 41-27. Auburn, which trailed just once in the game, won its seventh straight game against a team ranked in the AP poll. Trotter’s favorite target on the afternoon was Emory Blake, who caught seven passes for 108 yards with a touchdown. Blake’s touchdown catch, a 46-yard catchand-run, tied the game at 21-21 in the second quarter as Auburn scored 17 points in the second quarter to take a 31-24 lead into the half. Michael Dyer rushed for 150 yards on 18 carries, averaging 8.3 yards per carry, scoring twice. A 20-point third quarter propelled the Auburn Tigers to a 30-14 victory over Florida Atlantic on Saturday night before 82,249 fans at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Quarterback Barrett Trotter finished 16-for-28 passing for 178 yards, tossing two touchdown passes along with one interception. Michael Dyer led the Auburn rushing attack with 68 yards on 14 carries, and Emory Blake had 78 yards on five receptions with a touchdown. The Auburn defense, however, was responsible for a good amount of the Tiger offense. Auburn had three interceptions on the night with two leading to points. Neiko Thorpe and Jermaine Whitehead each had a pick in the third quarter, with Whitehead returning his 25 yards for a touchdown to give Auburn a 17-6 lead on FAU’s third offensive play of the half. It was the first career interception and touchdown for Whitehead. Thorpe’s interception later in the quarter was the fifth of his career and set up a 31-yard field goal by Cody Parkey to give Auburn a 27-6 lead with 6:51 on the clock in the third. Between the two interceptions, Trotter found McCalebb on a screen pass that went for 51 yards and an Auburn touchdown, increasing the Tiger lead to 24-6 at the 8:07 mark of the third quarter. It was the second receiving touchdown of McCalebb’s career and his longest reception as a Tiger, surpassing a 25-yard catch against Utah State earlier this season. Parkey would tack on his third field goal of the night with a 37-yard kick to extend the Auburn lead to 30-6 on the final play of the third quarter. FAU got on the board first, taking advantage of an Auburn turnover deep in Tiger territory. The Owls picked up one first down, then settled for a 39-yard field goal from Vinny Zaccario to take a 3-0 lead. Auburn would answer on its next possession, putting together an 11-play, 60yard drive that ended with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Trotter to Blake; Parkey would kick it to 7-3 midway through the first quarter. A McCalebb 14-yard touchdown run down the sideline on the first play of the fourth quarter capped a seven-play, 66-yard scoring drive as Auburn went up 14-6. The touchdown run was McCalebb’s first of the season, and his first since the 2010 Georgia game. The Auburn defense stopped Florida on a key fourth down attempt with 9:30 left in the fourth quarter as Florida drove to the Auburn 16 yard line but couldn’t convert on a pass to the left flat. Holding a 14-6 lead and starting on its own three, Auburn went three-and-out but again Florida couldn’t hold onto the punt as Robert Clark fumbled the return, allowing Ikeem Means to pick it up. Six plays later Cody Parkey converted on a 42yard field goal to cement the win as Florida got the ball back with just 35 seconds left. Corey Lemonier led Auburn with six tackles, including three for a loss of 20 yards. He also had four of the team’s 14 quarterback hurries.
