AUBURN-SOUTH CAROLINA HISTORY Auburn and South Carolina have played just eight times during their histories, including only four meetings since South Carolina joined the SEC prior to the 1992 season. Auburn owns a 61-1 lead in the series, and has won all four SEC games between the schools. South Carolina’s last win was a 16-14 victory in 1933, and the two teams did not meet again until 1996, when Auburn won 28-25 in Jordan-Hare Stadium. The only other meeting to take place in Auburn was a 48-7 Tiger victory in 2005. LAST MAN STANDING Sixth-year safety Aairon Savage is the lone remaining Auburn Tiger that played in the game the last time these two teams met. Savage, who was a redshirt freshman in 2006, started at safety and collected four tackles and a pass break-up during Auburn’s 24-17 victory in Columbia. SOUTH CAROLINA QUICK HITTERS South Carolina, ranked 13th in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, has its highest national ranking since the week of Oct. 20, 2007, when the Gamecocks were ranked No. 6 ... South Carolina is 3-0 for the first time since the 2007 season ... Freshman Marcus Lattimore ranks second in the SEC and 17th nationally in rushing, averaging 111.0 yards per game, and is tied for the conference lead with five touchdowns scored ... Alshon Jeffrey shares the SEC lead with 20 receptions and ranks second in the league averaging 102.0 receiving yards per game ... The Gamecocks are sixth in the SEC in total offense (392.3) ... Defensively, South Carolina leads the SEC in rushing defense (59.7) but ranks last in passing defense (267.7) ... The Gamecocks have recorded 11 sacks, which is tied for second best in the league ... Chris Culliver ranks third in SEC history in kickoff return yards with 2,340 on 100 career returns AUBURN-USC COACHING TIES } South Carolina defensive line coach Brad Lawing coached North Carolina’s defensive line in 2005, while Auburn safeties coach Tommy Thigpen was coaching the Tar Heels’ linebackers. } South Carolina safeties/special teams coach Shane Beamer started his collegiate coaching experience as a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech in 2000 while Auburn defensive coordinator Ted Roof held that same position with the Yellow Jackets. } Likewise, South Carolina running backs coach Jay Graham started his coaching career as an offensive G.A. at Tennessee in 2005, while Auburn assistant head coach/running backs coach Trooper Taylor was the Vols’ running backs coach.

SOUTH CAROLINA TIGERS Auburn has just one player on its roster from the state of South Carolina. True freshman offensive lineman Eric Mack is from St. Matthews and attended Calhoun County High School. ALABAMA GAMECOCKS South Carolina has just one player on its roster from the state of Alabama. Sophomore strong safety Jarrett Burns attended Lee High School in Huntsville. RANKING RARITY Saturday’s game will mark the first time that Auburn and South Carolina will meet with both teams in the national rankings. In fact, Auburn has never before played a ranked South Carolina team. SOMETHING’S GOTTA GIVE Auburn’s running game will face a stiff challenge from South Carolina’s defense, and vice versa. Auburn enters the contest with the SEC’s top-ranked rushing offense, averaging 259.3 yards per game, while the Gamecocks have the league’s stingiest rushing defense, allowing only 59.7 yards per game on the ground. ON THIS DATE Auburn has an all-time record of 10-1-1 on Sept. 25, and won its last game on that date by a 33-3 score over the Citadel in 2004. The Tigers’ only loss on Sept. 25 came in overtime in 1999, when Ole Miss escaped Jordan-Hare Stadium with a 24-17 victory. Perhaps Auburn’s most memorable Sept. 25 game came in 1971, when the fifth-ranked Tigers went to Knoxville to take on ninth-ranked Tennessee. In the final two minutes, Pat Sullivan drove Auburn 86 yards for a touchdown and a 10-9 victory en route to winning the Heisman Trophy that season. IN SEPTEMBER Auburn is 151-47-5 (.756) all-time in the month of September, and has won 27 of its last 31 September contests, 13 of its last 14 and eight in a row. The Tigers have guaranteed a winning record during the month of September for the seventh straight season, and the 27th out of the past 29. TIGERS IN 3D ... AGAIN The Auburn-South Carolina football game will be just the fifth college football game ever broadcast in 3D, but will be Auburn’s second in as many weeks. The Auburn-Clemson game last Saturday was the first Auburn sporting event ever broadcast in 3D, and made Auburn the first SEC team to have a game in 3D. Earlier this season, Boise State’s victory over Virginia Tech was broadcast in 3D, as was the second weekend’s Ohio State-Miami game. Ohio State also played in the first 3D game, against USC in 2009.

2010 Auburn Football Game Notes COACH TO CURE MD WEEK Auburn coaches will join more than 5,000 other coaches at more than 350 schools this weekend in wearing Coach to Cure MD patches to raise awareness and funding for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research. Fans are encouraged to donate online at www.CoachtoCureMD.org or donate $5 by texting CURE to 90999. JORDAN-HARE STADIUM Now celebrating its 71st year as home to the Auburn football team, Jordan-Hare Stadium is the nation’s 10th-largest on-campus stadium, with a capacity of 87,451 fans. The Tigers, who have averaged more than 80,000 fans during each of the past 17 seasons, are 273-69-7 (.792) alltime at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn has had 10 straight winning seasons at Jordan-Hare Stadium, posting a mark of 59-15 (.797) at home since the 2000 season. The Tigers were undefeated at home during two of those seasons, going 7-0 in both 2000 and 2004. UNDER THE LIGHTS AT JORDAN-HARE Auburn has been tough to beat in night games at Jordan-Hare Stadium, accumulating a record of 21-4 (.840) since the 2000 season in home games starting at 6 p.m. or later. That stretch includes a 4-1 record against nationallyranked opponents, with wins over No. 1 Florida in 2001, No. 2 Florida in 2006, No. 7 Tennessee in 2003 and No. 14 Georgia in 2000. 3-0 .... AGAIN Auburn’s 3-0 start is nothing new, as it marks the third straight season that the Tigers have started 3-0. In fact, Auburn has started 3-0 in five of the last seven seasons, and 11 of the past 18 years. LEADERS OF THE PACK Auburn currently leads the nation in passing efficiency with a rating of 191.48, despite having a completion percentage lower than each of the next 23 teams behind it in the rankings. Two keys components have contributed to Auburn being ranked No. 1 in efficiency. First, the Tigers lead the nation with an average of 11.80 yards per attempt. Only three other schools average 10 or more yards per attempt. Second, the Tigers have connected on touchdowns on 13.73 percent of their pass attempts, which also leads the nation. Only seven other schools have thrown TD passes on at least 10 percent of their attempts. Individually, Cameron Newton ranks fourth in the country with a rating of 187.66, thanks largely to his nation-best 14.89 touchdown percentage, and his average of 11.17 yards per pass attempt, which is No. 2 in the country.

EXPLOSIVE QUARTER Auburn defeated Clemson last Saturday, 2724 in overtime, thanks largely to the Tigers’ most productive quarter of the season. Auburn exploded for 258 yards of offense in the third quarter, turning a 17-3 deficit into a 24-17 advantage. Cameron Newton completed 5-of-6 passes for 173 yards in the quarter, with Darvin Adams catching four of the balls for 95 yards and a score, and Terrell Zachery catching the other ball for a 78-yard touchdown. It was particularly stunning given that Auburn had managed only eight yards of offense in the first quarter and did not record a first down until midway through the second quarter. Prior to that third quarter, Auburn’s biggest quarter of the season was the second quarter of the season opener against Arkansas State, when Auburn rolled up 245 yards of offense. COMEBACK KIDS Auburn overcame a 17-0 deficit against Clemson to earn a 27-24 overtime victory last Saturday. It marked the first time that Auburn overcame a deficit of at least 17 points to win since Sept. 28, 2002, when the Tigers trailed Syracuse 17-0 at Jordan-Hare Stadium before coming back to win 37-34 in three overtimes. It was just Auburn’s fourth 17-point deficit overcome in a victory since 1970. It was the fifth come-from-behind victory in the past two years for Auburn under head coach Gene Chizik, and the second this season. OFFENSE PICKS UP WHERE IT LEFT OFF Auburn’s offense continues to shine under second-year offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, as the Tigers rank 12th nationally in rushing offense (259.3) and 21st in total offense (460.0). In 16 games under Malzahn, Auburn has totaled at least 500 yards of offense five times. Prior to Malzahn’s arrival in 2009, Auburn hadn’t had a single 500-yard game since the 2005 Georgia game - a streak of 40 games. THREE IN THE TOP 10 Auburn has continued to excel in the running game by utilizing a balanced attack. The Tigers have three of the top 10 individual rushers in the SEC this season, as Cameron Newton ranks fifth in the conference and 25th nationally averaging 103.0 yards per game, while Onterio McCalebb (75.0) and Michael Dyer (70.7) rank tied for eighth and 10th, respectively, in the SEC in rushing. STRIKING QUICKLY Of Auburn’s 15 scoring drives in regulation this season, eight have taken less than two minutes off the clock, and only one has taken more than four minutes. Six of the 15 have used four plays or fewer. The Tigers’ average scoring drive has covered 56.7 yards per drive, but has taken an average of just 2:02 per drive.

SEC SUCCESS Since the 2004 season, Auburn has won 32 of its 49 Southeastern Conference games and 33 of its 50 games against SEC schools, including the 2004 SEC Championship game victory over Tennessee. Auburn’s success against conference schools dates back beyond 2004, however, as since the start of the 2000 season, the Tigers have the fourth best record among the 12 league schools in regular season conference games. The following are the combined conference records of the 12 SEC schools from 2000-10. BIG PLAYS The Tigers have run 10 plays already this season that covered at least 35 yards, including six that resulted in touchdowns. In fact, Auburn’s 13 touchdown plays have averaged 26.8 yards per play this season. Last season, Auburn had 22 plays of at least 35 yards. In 2008, before Gus Malzahn’s arrival, the Tigers had just nine plays that covered 35 or more yards. IMPRESSIVE DEBUT Junior quarterback Cameron Newton made a big impression during his debut as an Auburn Tiger during Auburn’s 52-26 season-opening victory against Arkansas State Sept. 4. Newton posted the second-best rushing total ever by a quarterback at Auburn, collecting 171 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries, including a 71yard scamper that was Auburn’s longest rush since 2005. Newton also completed 9-of-14 passes for 186 yards (20.6 yards per completion) and three touchdowns. He earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts. Newton currently ranks second in the league and fourth nationally in passing efficiency (187.66), second in the SEC and 21st in total offense (278.0), fifth in the SEC and 25th nationally in rushing (103.0) and 10th in the SEC and 92nd nationally in all-purpose yards (110.3). He ranks fourth nationally in rushing among quarterbacks. EXPERIENCED O-LINE PAVES THE WAY Auburn has one of the most experienced if not one of the best offensive lines in the country, with four starters returning who have combined to make 121 career starts. Senior All-American candidate and Outland Trophy watch list candidate Lee Ziemba has started all 41 games at tackle since arriving as a true freshman, while center Ryan Pugh, a Rimington Trophy candidate, has made 35 starts since his true freshman season. Guards Mike Berry (24 starts) and Byron Isom (21 starts) round out the experienced group. Auburn’s offensive line was ranked as the fifth-best OL unit in the country by Phil Steele and Lindy’s in their preseason publications. DEFENSE STEPS UP LATE Auburn’s defense has stepped up late in games, as the Tigers have allowed just 24 total points in their three second halves, after allowing 40 points in the first halves. Auburn has given up just 10 points in the fourth quarter and overtime this season, and has held opponents to 1-of-11 on third-down conversion attempts after the end of the third period.

FAIRLEY DOMINANT Nick Fairley has emerged as a force at defensive tackle for Auburn, leading the SEC in sacks (4.0) and tackles for loss (7.0). His four sacks are tied for third most in the country and his seven tackles for loss is tied for fourth most. Fairley has at least one sack in every game this season, and was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance at Mississippi State, where he totaled five tackles including 2.5 for losses and 1.5 sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery and three quarterback hurries. DYNAMIC DUO Defensive end Antoine Carter has joined forces with Nick Fairley on Auburn’s defensive line to wreak havoc in opposing backfields. Carter is tied for third in the SEC with three sacks, and his 5 tackles for loss is tied for fifth best. Carter, a senior, and Fairley, a junior are just part of an experienced Auburn defensive line. End Michael Goggans and interior linemen Mike Blanc and Zach Clayton are all seniors for the Tigers. BYNES LEADS DEFENSE Senior Josh Bynes led Auburn in tackles with 104, and is leading the squad again this season. He currently has a team-best 23 tackles after recording 11 against Clemson, and has 2.5 tackles for loss, two pass break-ups and four quarterback hurries. Bynes has started the last 24 consecutive games at linebacker for the Tigers. SUCCESSFUL RETURN FOR DBs Auburn’s secondary has been boosted by the return of three former starters who returned from injuries, including two that missed the entire 2009 season. Senior safety Aairon Savage, who missed both the 2008 (knee) and 2009 (Achilles) seasons in their entirety before being granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA in February, is second on the team with 19 tackles, including one for loss. Senior safety Zac Etheridge, who suffered a season-ending neck injury last Halloween against Ole Miss, is fourth on the squad with 17 tackles and a pass break-up. Junior safety Mike McNeil, who missed all of 2009 after breaking his leg in the spring, has added seven tackles and a pass break-up. BATES’ MOVE TO LB A GOOD ONE Sophomore Daren Bates started all 13 games at safety as a true freshman in 2009, but converted to linebacker prior to this season. It proved to be a good move, as Bates led the team with a career-high 10 tackles in the season opener against Arkansas State, and currently ranks third on the team with 18 tackles for the season.

Game 4 • South Carolina at Auburn • Sept. 25, 2010 • 6:45 p.m. • Jordan-Hare Stadium • Auburn, Ala.

2010 Auburn Football Game Notes BYRUM RECORD WATCH Lou Groza Award candidate Wes Byrum is on pace to become Auburn’s all-time leading scorer during his senior season. Byrum, who set a school single-season record for points by a kicker last season with 99, has 24 points this season and needs 49 more to pass John Vaughn (2003-06) for the top spot on Auburn’s career points scored list. Byrum is currently fifth on the list with 264 points, just two behind Damon Duval (1999-02) for fourth. Byrum had a field goal attempt blocked in the fourth quarter at Mississippi State, snapping a streak of nine consecutive made field goal attempts dating back to last season. His last previous miss was at Tennessee in 2009. He has made 19 of his last 21 field goal attempts after hitting just 11-of-19 in 2008. SPECIAL TEAMS IMPROVEMENTS In addition to Wes Byrum, a number of other players are excelling on special teams. Senior Demond Washington ranks fourth in the SEC averaging 26.1 yards per kickoff return, and had 126 kickoff return yards against Arkansas State, which is the 12th best total in school history. Junior Quindarius Carr has averaged 7.1 yards per punt return, which is fifth in the league. Senior Ryan Shoemaker is fifth in the SEC averaging 39.6 yards per kick, and freshman Craig Sanders has a team-high four tackles on special teams. In addition, senior Mike Blanc blocked a PAT against Arkansas State, marking the second straight game Auburn blocked a PAT. It was the fourth blocked extra point by the Tigers in the past two seasons. IN THE POLLS Auburn, which began the season nationally ranked for the seventh time in the last eight years, is currently ranked 17th in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, and 14th in the USA Today coaches poll. The Tigers are ranked for four straight weeks for the first time since the 2008 season. YOUNG GUNS GET FIRST ACTION Auburn has played 13 true freshmen this season, which is tied with Air Force and Florida State for second behind Florida (15) for the most true freshmen played by any team in the country. The true freshmen who have played included: DL Kenneth Carter, LB Jessel Curry, DB Chris Davis, RB Michael Dyer, WR Antonio Goodwin, WR Shaun Kitchens, DE Corey Lemonier, DB Demetruce McNeal, K Cody Parkey, WR Trovon Reed, DE Craig Sanders, DB Ryan Smith and DL Jeffrey Whitaker.

CHIZIK ERA ENTERS SECOND YEAR Head coach Gene Chizik is in his second year at the helm of the Auburn program, after recording the second-most wins by a first-year coach in Auburn history last season. He also became the first Auburn head coach to take his team to a bowl game in his initial season, leading the Tigers to a 38-35 overtime victory over Northwestern in the Outback Bowl. Chizik also became just the third coach in Auburn history to win his first five games as head coach, and became just the third SEC coach since the league expanded in 1992 to start 5-0. STAFF REMAINS INTACT Auburn achieved a rare feat by keeping its entire coaching staff from last season, making Auburn the only school in the SEC to return its head coach and every full-time assistant coach. The last time Auburn returned its entire coaching staff was when the 2006 staff returned intact in 2007. OFFENSE BY THE NUMBERS Auburn’s offense lost quarterback Chris Todd, who accounted for more than 93 percent of Auburn’s passing yards last season, and running back Ben Tate, who rushed for 1,362 yards. Still, the Tigers have more than 91 percent of their receiving yards and 85 percent of their catches, plus more than half of their rushing yards returning this year. Players who accounted for nearly 80 percent of Auburn’s scoring return as well. Category Passing Yards Rushing Yards Receptions Receiving Yards Scoring Touchdowns Total Offense All-Purpose Yards

THIRD STRAIGHT NEW OPENING DAY QB Junior college transfer Cameron Newton became Auburn’s third opening-day starter in as many seasons, but he is no stranger to the SEC. Newton played at Florida as a true freshman in 2007, rushing 16 times for 103 yards and three touchdowns, and also played in the 2008 opener before redshirting. He spent the 2009 season at Blinn (Texas) College, helping the team to the 2009 NJCAA national championship by passing for 2,833 yards and 22 scores while also rushing for 655 yards and 16 TDs, making him the No. 1-ranked junior college prospect in the country according to Rivals.com.

RUNNING BACK U. Despite losing Ben Tate, a second-round NFL draft pick of the Houston Texans, Auburn still has a deep stable of talented backs in the fold. Senior Mario Fannin leads the group with 991 career rushing yards. Fannin, who has also spent time as a wide receiver and kick returner, was the team’s second-leading receiver last year with 42 catches for 413 yards and three scores. He currently has 2,821 career all-purpose yards, and is just 301 yards away from cracking Auburn’s all-time top 10 list in that category. Sophomore Onterio McCalebb is also back after gaining 565 yards on the ground as a true freshman. McCalebb became the first Auburn freshman ever to rush for 100+ yards in his first two collegiate games. Also added to the mix is freshman Michael Dyer, who was the No. 1ranked high school running back in the country last year according to ESPN.com/Scouts, Inc.

WIDEOUTS RETURN FROM A TO Z Junior Biletnikoff Award candidate Darvin Adams headlines a talented group of wide receivers that return in 2010. Adams set an Auburn single-season record with 60 receptions in 2009, and his 997 receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches were third best in school history. He was named MVP of the Outback Bowl after setting an Auburn bowl record with 12 grabs for 142 yards. Senior Terrell Zachery was Auburn’s No. 2 receiver last year, finishing with 26 receptions for 477 yards and five touchdowns. Zachery was a big play specialist, averaging 49.2 yards per TD catch while also rushing nine times for 214 yards (23.8 yards per carry) and a score.

THE SENIOR CLASS Head coach Gene Chizik has a senior class that includes 24 players at Auburn in 2010, which is the largest in Auburn history and almost double the size of last year’s senior class of 13. The previous largest senior class was 23 in 1988. The 2010 seniors include: OL Mike Berry, DL Mike Blanc, OL Jorrell Bostrom, WR Kodi Burns, LB Josh Bynes, K Wes Byrum, DE Antoine Carter, QB Neil Caudle, LB Wade Christopher, DL Zach Clayton, OL Bart Eddins, S Zac Etheridge, RB Mario Fannin, DE Michael Goggans, OL Byron Isom, DB Woody Parramore, OL Ryan Pugh, DB Aairon Savage, P Ryan Shoemaker, LB Craig Stevens, DB Demond Washington, WR Jay Wisner, WR Terrell Zachery and OL Lee Ziemba. IRON MEN Of Auburn’s 24 seniors, 13 have seen time in at least 30 games during their careers. Mario Fannin leads the group with 43 games played, including three in 2006 before redshirting and 40 games over the past four seasons, while Michael Goggans and Lee Ziemba have played in all 41 games since 2007. Mike Blanc and Wes Byrum are next with 40 games played each, followed by Zac Etheridge and Craig Stevens (39), Antoine Carter and Ryan Pugh (36), Kodi Burns (35), Mike Berry (34), Josh Bynes (33) and Zach Clayton (30). HIGHLY TOUTED RECRUITING CLASS While Auburn’s seniors will be leaned up heavily this season, another strong recruiting class will play a big role in the Tigers’ success. Auburn’s 2010 recruiting class was ranked No. 4 in the nation by both ESPN.com/Scouts, Inc., and Rivals.com and sixth by Scout.com. Seven members of the recruiting class were part of the ESPNU 150. SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW The players on Auburn’s roster ranged in age from 17 to 23 when the season opened. The oldest Tiger, sixth-year senior Aairon Savage (DOB 12/29/86) was 23 years, eight months and six days old on the date of the season opener. The youngest player is freshman Jonathon Mincy (DOB 9/5/92), who celebrated his 18th birthday the day after the Arkansas State game. STARTS STREAKS Senior Lee Ziemba has the longest staring streak on the squad, having started all 41 games over the past four seasons. If he starts all 12 regular-season games this year, he will break Will Herring’s school records of 49 career starts and 49 consecutive starts. One other senior has a streak that dates back to his freshman season, as Ryan Pugh has

Cameron Newton, Nick Fairley and a strong Tiger defense led No. 21 Auburn to a 17-14 victory over Mississippi State in the SEC opener for both teams at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field on Sept. 9. It is AU’s 17th SEC-opening win in 18 tries. Newton threw for 136 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 70 yards while defensive lineman Fairley had an interception, fumble recovery and three sacks. The Tigers defense limited Mississippi State to only 246 total yards. Auburn took the opening kickoff and grabbed a quick 7-0 lead only 3:38 into the game on a 39-yard Newton touchdown pass on a screen to Emory Blake, marking his first touchdown reception of his career. On the 8-play, 68-yard drive, Newton converted a huge 4th and 1 from the State 46. After the Tigers sacked the Bulldogs three straight times on a three and out, two by Nick Fairley and the other by Mike Blanc, Quindarius Carr fumbled the ensuing punt and Mississippi State recovered it at the Auburn 20 yard line. State tied it up three plays later from the Tigers 2 as quarterback Chris Reif fumbled the ball into the end zone and State offensive lineman Gabe Jackson recovered it with 2:30 remaining in the opening quarter. Fairley intercepted State quarterback Tyler Russell's pass at midfield, setting up Auburn's eight play touchdown drive to give the Tigers a 14-7 lead with 8:37 left in the half. On 3rd and goal from the State 12, Newton threw his second touchdown pass of the game, this time to Darvin Adams. Fairley continued his outstanding performance with a fumble recovery at the State 44 on the Bulldogs' next possession. It led to a 34-yard Wes Byrum field goal for the final scoring of the first half that stretched Auburn's lead to 17-7 with 4:29 remaining. Mississippi State took the opening kickoff of the second half and closed to within 17-14 on a 1-yard touchdown run on third down by Vick Ballard with 8:55 left in the third quarter. The Bulldogs used 12 plays to drive 63 yards. The Bulldogs then recovered an onside kick at their own 44. Auburn held the Mississippi State to a three and out to finally gain its first second half possession with 8:28 to go in the third at its own 12 yard line. Mississippi State blocked Byrum's 37 yard field goal attempt with 2:19 to play. The Bulldogs took over at their own 20 yard line and converted a fourth and 4 from their own 26 to the MSU 48 with 90 seconds remaining. September 18, 2010 • ESPN / ESPN 3D Jordan-Hare Stadium (87,451) • Auburn, Ala.

Wes Byrum's 39-yard field goal in the first overtime period propelled No. 16 Auburn to a thrilling 27-24 win over Clemson in front of a sold-out Jordan-Hare Stadium on Sept. 18. Auburn trailed 17-3 at halftime but used a 21-point third quarter to take a lead before winning in the first overtime period. Clemson's Chandler Catanzaro had a chance to send the game to a second overtime period but missed a 32-yard field goal into the Auburn student section end of the stadium. Darvin Adams finished the game with 118 yards on five catches with a touchdown, including an eight-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter that tied the game at 17-17. Onterrio McCalebb led Auburn on the ground with 81 yards and a touchdown on 10 rushes and teammate Michael Dyer had 69 yards on 16 rushes. Cam Newton was 7-for-14 for 203 yards and two touchdowns and added 68 yards on the 17 rushes. Auburn, which last overcame a 17-0 deficit in 2002, went up 24-17 lead as Newton and Adams hooked up for four completions that covered 95 yards and directly led to two touchdowns, with Adams catching one and McCalebb running one in. McCalebb's 12-yard touchdown run capped a six-play, 61-yard drive for Auburn to start the comeback, bringing Auburn to within a touchdown, 17-10, midway through the third quarter. The big play on the drive was Newton's 34-yard pass to Adams on a third and one play that brought the ball to the Clemson 18 yard line. Auburn's next series saw Adams score his second touchdown of the season as he tapped the tip of his shoe down in bounds to finish off an eight-play drive that started at the Auburn 28 yard line and took just 3:41 off the clock. The next time Auburn touched the ball it needed just 38 seconds to score as Newton's first pass completion to someone other than Adams gave Auburn its first lead of the day, 24-17. Following a five-yard run by McCalebb, Newton found Zachery down the sideline for a 78 yard touchdown, Auburn's third straight series that ended with a touchdown. Clemson answered the Zachary score with an eight-play march down the field to tie the game at 24-24 with 12:36 left in regulation. The drive covered 77 yards and took just 3:27 off the clock.
