THE GAME After three straight home games, Auburn returns to the road for the first time in a month when the Tigers visit Kentucky Saturday evening. It will mark Auburn’s first trip to Lexington since the 2005 season. The game will be nationally televised by ESPN2 with kickoff slated for 6:30 p.m. CT. AUBURN HEADLINES } Auburn has won on each of its last seven trips to Lexington since a 17-7 Wildcat victory in 1966. } Auburn is 5-0 for the second straight season and the fourth time in the last seven years. } Auburn has its highest ranking in the Associated Press poll since the 2006 season. } Auburn is ranked eighth nationally in rushing offense (269.0), 11th in total offense (475.4) and 20th in scoring offense (36.6). } Auburn leads the nation in passing efficiency, thanks largely to having the nation’s top touchdown percentage (12.5) and yards per attempt (10.75). Both of Kentucky’s SEC games have been played on the road, and three of its five games overall ... The Wildcats are second in the SEC in passing offense (263.8) and fourth in total offense (453.6) ... The Wildcats have surrendered just two sacks this season, which is best in the SEC ... Derrick Locke is second in the SEC in rushing (108.6), Mike Hartline is second in passing (244.4) and Randall Cobb is tied for third in receptions (5.0) ... Locke leads the SEC in allpurpose yardage (181.4) and Cobb is third (158.8) ... Kentucky leads the SEC in pass defense (141.8) but is 11th in rushing defense (166.2) ... Danny Trevathan leads the team in tackles (42) and tackles for loss (8.0). BIG DAYS IN THE PAST Over the years several Auburn players have rung up big individual days against Kentucky. Following is a look back through the AU history books at some of the top individual performances against the Wildcats. 1955: Former Auburn Governor and Tiger running back Fob James scored on a 68-yard run in a 14-14 tie in Birmingham. 1959: James Pettus returns a kickoff 88 yards for a TD in a 33-0 Auburn win. 1961: John McGeever went 82 yards with a blocked kick for a TD in Kentucky’s lone win at Auburn. 1967: Loran Carter and Freddie Hyatt connected on a 70-yard TD pass in a 48-7 win in Auburn. 1969: Pat Sullivan set an Auburn record with four touchdown passes in a 44-3 win at Jordan-Hare Stadium. 1970: Wallace Clark rushed for 167 yards on 13 carries in a 33-15 AU win in Lexington. 1970: Pat Sullivan hit Terry Beasley for a 73yard TD pass in Auburn’s 33-15 win. 1971: Pat Sullivan passed for 253 yards in a 25-16 AU victory at Jordan-Hare Stadium. 1971: Terry Beasley hauled in nine Sullivan passes for 194 yards and a TD in the same 25-16 win.

1975: Clyde Baumgartner and Jeff Gilligan hooked up on a 72-yard scoring pass in a 15-9 win in Lexington. 1982: Al Del Greco kicked a school record six field goals at Jordan-Hare Stadium in an 18-3 Auburn victory. 2004: Carnell Williams ran for 149 yards and two scores on only 17 carries during a 42-10 Auburn win at Jordan-Hare Stadium. 2005: Auburn nearly has three 100-yard rushers, as Tristan Davis (162 yards on eight carries), Kenny Irons (103) and Tre Smith (99) help Auburn amass 388 yards on the ground. ALABAMA WILDCATS Three members of the Kentucky squad are from the state of Alabama. Redshirt freshman running back Jonathan George is from Lincoln, junior offensive lineman Jake Lanefski is from Mobile and freshman defensive back Dale Trimble is from Gadsden. AU-UK CONNECTIONS } Kentucky running backs coach Larry Brinson was the running backs coach at Rice in 1995 when Auburn offensive line coach Jeff Grimes was an offensive and defensive graduate assistant coach. } Kentucky offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Randy Sanders held the same position at Tennessee in 2004-05 when Auburn assistant head coach/wide receivers coach Trooper Taylor was the Vols’ running backs coach. ON THIS DATE Auburn has an all-time record of 9-4-1 on Oct. 9, including a 1-1 record against Kentucky (won in 1982, lost in 1954). The Tigers’ last game on Oct. 9 was a 52-7 route of Louisiana Tech by the No. 6 Tigers in 2004. Auburn is 3-0 on this date when playing as a nationally-ranked team. In addition to the 2004 victory, No. 22 Auburn beat Mississippi State 31-17 in 1993, and the No. 4 Tigers defeated Southern Miss 27-14 in 1971. IN OCTOBER Auburn, which just concluded its seventh consecutive winning month of September, is 291-149-18 (.655) all-time in the month of October. The Tigers are 26-11 (.703) in their last 37 games in October. IN THE POLLS Auburn is currently ranked eighth in the Associated Press and USA Today coaches polls. It marks the highest ranking in the AP poll for Auburn since the 2006 season, when Auburn was ranked fifth in the Nov. 5 poll prior to a game against Georgia.

2010 Auburn Football Game Notes 5-0 .... AGAIN Auburn’s 5-0 start marks the second straight season that the Tigers have started 5-0, and the fourth time in the last seven years. Auburn has now started 5-0 in eight of the past 18 years and 24 times in its history. OFFENSE KEEPS ROLLING Auburn’s offense continues to shine under second-year offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, as the Tigers rank eighth nationally in rushing offense (269.0), 11th in total offense (475.4) and 20th in scoring offense (36.6). In 18 games under Malzahn, Auburn has totaled at least 500 yards of offense six times. Prior to Malzahn’s arrival in 2009, Auburn hadn’t had a single 500-yard game since the 2005 Georgia game - a streak of 40 games. GAINING GROUND Auburn’s running game has been dominant this season, as the Tiger lead the SEC and rank eighth nationally averaging 269.0 yards per game on the ground. Auburn has three of the top 10 rushers in the SEC, led by junior quarterback Cam Newton, who averages 94.8 yards per game on the ground even after not calling his own number on a running play once last Saturday vs. ULM. Sophomore Onterio McCalebb is ninth in the SEC averaging 67.2 yards per game, while freshman Michael Dyer is one spot behind averaging 66.8 yards rushing. Against South Carolina Sept. 25, Auburn had two 100-yard rushers in the same game for the third time in the last two seasons, as Newton had 176 yards on the ground and Dyer rushed for an even 100. The game against South Carolina marked the fourth time under Gus Malzahn that Auburn has rushed for at least 300 yards. Prior to Malzahn’s arrival, Auburn had just four 300-yard rushing games in the previous six seasons combined. PASSING FANCY Auburn currently leads the nation in passing efficiency with a rating of 188.82, thanks largely to two key factors. First, the Tigers have scored touchdowns on 12.5 percent of their pass attempts, which leads the nation. Only two other schools have thrown TD passes on at least 10 percent of their attempts. Second, the Tigers also lead the nation with an average of 10.75 yards per attempt. Again, only two other schools average at least 10 yards per attempt. Individually, Cam Newton leads the SEC and ranks second in the country with a rating of 191.44, thanks largely to his nation-best 13.79 touchdown percentage (second best is 10.38 by Fresno State’s Ryan Colburn), and his average of 10.67 yards per pass attempt, which also leads the country.

BIG PLAYS The Tigers have run 13 plays already this season that covered at least 35 yards, including nine that resulted in touchdowns. In fact, Auburn’s 24 touchdown plays have averaged 25.7 yards per play this season. Last season, Auburn had 22 plays of at least 35 yards. In 2008, before Gus Malzahn’s arrival, the Tigers had just nine plays that covered 35 or more yards all season. GO LONG Auburn has had an excess of long pass plays over the past two seasons, including the two longest plays from scrimmage in Auburn history. In the first 115 years of Auburn football, the Tigers had just 24 passing plays of more than 70 yards. But in the past two seasons, covering only 18 games, the Tigers have had five pass plays of more than 70 yards, including two this season. Last year against Louisiana Tech, Chris Todd found Terrell Zachery for a 93-yard touchdown to break the record for the longest play from scrimmage in Auburn history. This year against ULM, Cam Newton and Emory Blake did them one yard better, scoring on a 94-yard pass. SCOOTIN’ NEWTON Junior quarterback Cam Newton has been impressive running the ball this season, leading the SEC and ranking 36th nationally in rushing (fourth among quarterback), averaging 94.8 yards per game. In his debut, Newton posted the second-highest rushing total ever for an Auburn quarterback, gaining 171 yards and two touchdowns against Arkansas State. He topped that against South Carolina, going for 176 yards and three scores. Newton, who has touchdown runs of 71 and 54 yards this season, is already just the second quarterback in Auburn history to have multiple 100-yard rushing games, joining Phil Gargis, who had four from 1974-76. With 474 yards rushing in five games, he already ranks ninth in Auburn history for career rushing yardage by a quarterback. HE CAN THROW, TOO Cam Newton hasn’t just excelled with his feet, but also throwing the ball. Newton ranks second nationally in passing efficiency (191.44) and is the first quarterback in school history to throw at least two touchdown passes in each of the first five games of a season. No other quarterback had even done that in the first three games. Newton has accounted for five TDs in a game twice this season (vs. Arkansas State and South Carolina) and was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week after his performances against Arkansas State and South Carolina. In addition to his rushing and passing efficiency numbers, he ranks second in the SEC and tied for 21st nationally in total offense (280.4), has caught a pass for 22 yards and even punted once for 22 yards.

SEC SUCCESS Since the 2004 season, Auburn has won 33 of its 50 Southeastern Conference games and 34 of its 51 games against SEC schools, including the 2004 SEC Championship game victory over Tennessee. Auburn’s success against conference schools dates back beyond 2004, however, as since the start of the 2000 season, the Tigers have the fourth best record among the 12 league schools in regular season conference games. STRIKING QUICKLY Of Auburn’s 28 scoring drives in regulation this season, 12 have taken less than two minutes off the clock, and only three have taken more than four minutes. Ten of the 28 have used just four plays or fewer. The Tigers’ average scoring drive has covered 57.4 yards per drive, but has taken an average of just 2:19 per drive. HOLDING ON LATE Auburn has struck quickly in first-quarter drives this year, and as a result, the Tigers have averaged just 4:35 in time of possession in the opening period this season. In the second half, however, the Tigers have controlled the clock, holding the ball for an average of 8:13 in the third quarter and 7:36 in the fourth quarter this season. EXPERIENCED O-LINE PAVES THE WAY Auburn has one of the most experienced if not one of the best offensive lines in the country, with four starters returning who have combined to make 129 career starts. Senior All-American candidate and Outland Trophy watch list candidate Lee Ziemba has started all 43 games at tackle since arriving as a true freshman, while center Ryan Pugh, a Rimington Trophy candidate, has made 37 starts since his true freshman season. Guards Mike Berry (26 starts) and Byron Isom (23 starts) round out the experienced group. Auburn’s offensive line was ranked as the fifth-best OL unit in the country by Phil Steele and Lindy’s in their preseason publications. STOPPING THE RUN Auburn’s defense has excelled against the run this season, ranking second in the SEC and 12th nationally in rushing defense, allowing just 92.8 yards per game. Auburn has held six of its last nine opponents to less than 100 yards rushing dating back to the end of the 2009 season. The Tigers limited South Carolina’s Marcus Lattimore, who entered the game ranked second in the SEC averaging 111.0 yards rushing per game, to just 33 yards on 14 carries. CREATING TURNOVERS Auburn has forced eight turnovers in the last two games, getting four in each contest. It marks the first time that Auburn has forced four or more turnovers in consecutive games since 2002 (Vanderbilt 4, Mississippi State 6). In the first three games of the season, Auburn was -4 in turnover ratio (2 forced/6 giveaways), while in the last two games, Auburn is +5 in turnover ratio (8 forced/3 giveaways). Seven of the eight turnovers in the last two games have come in the second half and resulted in 35 Auburn points.

BEHIND ENEMY LINES Auburn’s defense has been able to get into the opposition’s backfield at will, as the Tigers lead the SEC and are fifth nationally in tackles for loss, averaging 8.6 per game. Individually, Nick Fairley leads the league and is tied for fourth in the nation averaging 2.3 tackles for loss including five sacks, while Antoine Carter is next with 5.0 tackles for loss. Fifteen different players have recorded tackles for losses this season for Auburn, including eight players with at least two. Auburn and LSU are the only two teams to have four players ranked among the top 20 in the SEC in tackles for loss. GETTING STINGIER AS WE GO Auburn’s defense has allowed fewer points in every quarter this season as the game has progressed. The Tigers have allowed 37 first-quarter points and 26 points in the second quarter. In the third quarter, the Tigers have surrendered just 21 points, and Auburn has allowed just 10 fourthquarter points. The Tigers have allowed less than half as many points in the second half (31) than the first half (63) this season. FOURTH QUARTER DEFENSE Auburn’s defense has stepped up late in games, as the Tigers have allowed just 10 points in the fourth quarter and overtime this season while shutting out both of their SEC opponents. Auburn has held opponents to 3-of-16 on thirddown conversion attempts in the fourth quarter and overtime and forced turnovers on all four of South Carolina’s fourth-quarter possessions Sept. 25. FAIRLEY DOMINANT Nick Fairley has emerged as a force at defensive tackle for Auburn, leading the SEC in both sacks (5.0) and tackles for loss (11.5). His five sacks are tied for sixth most in the country and his 11.5 tackles for loss are tied for third most. Fairley has at least 1.5 tackles for loss in every game this season, and was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance at Mississippi State, where he totaled five tackles including 2.5 for losses and 1.5 sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery and three quarterback hurries. BYNES LEADS TACKLERS Senior Josh Bynes led Auburn in tackles last season with 104, and is leading the squad again this season. He currently has a team-best 31 tackles and has 3.5 tackles for loss, an interception, two pass break-ups and four quarterback hurries. Bynes has started the last 26 consecutive games at linebacker for the Tigers.

2010 Auburn Football Game Notes SUCCESSFUL RETURN FOR DBs Auburn’s secondary has been boosted by the return of three former starters who returned from injuries, including two that missed the entire 2009 season. Senior safety Aairon Savage, who missed both the 2008 (knee) and 2009 (Achilles) seasons in their entirety before being granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA in February, is second on the team with 29 tackles, including one for loss. Senior safety Zac Etheridge, who suffered a season-ending neck injury last Halloween against Ole Miss, is third with 27 tackles and has an interception and a pass break-up. Junior safety Mike McNeil, who missed all of 2009 after breaking his leg in the spring, has added 10 tackles and a pass break-up. BATES’ MOVE TO LB A GOOD ONE Sophomore Daren Bates started all 13 games at safety as a true freshman in 2009, but converted to linebacker prior to this season. It proved to be a good move, as Bates led the team with a career-high 10 tackles in the season opener against Arkansas State, and currently ranks fourth on the team with 24 tackles for the season. He also has a tackle for loss and a forced fumble. BYRUM RECORD WATCH Lou Groza Award candidate Wes Byrum is closing in on becoming Auburn’s all-time leading scorer. Byrum, who set a school single-season record for points by a kicker last season with 99, has 39 points this season and needs 34 more to pass John Vaughn (2003-06) for the top spot on Auburn’s career points scored list. Byrum is currently second on the list with 279 points. Byrum had a field goal attempt blocked in the fourth quarter at Mississippi State, snapping a streak of nine consecutive made field goal attempts dating back to last season. His last previous miss was at Tennessee in 2009. He has made 20 of his last 24 field goal attempts after hitting just 11-of-19 in 2008. SPECIAL TEAMS IMPROVEMENTS In addition to Wes Byrum, a number of other players are excelling on special teams. Senior Demond Washington ranks seventh in the SEC averaging 26.0 yards per kickoff return, and had 126 kickoff return yards against Arkansas State, which is the 12th best total in school history. Junior Quindarius Carr has averaged 7.7 yards per punt return, which is seventh in the league. Senior Ryan Shoemaker is sixth in the SEC averaging 38.9 yards per kick, and freshmen Craig Sanders and Demetruce McNeal and sophomore Jonathan Evans have a team-high five tackles on special teams each. In addition, senior Mike Blanc blocked a PAT against Arkansas State, marking the second

straight game Auburn blocked a PAT. It was the fourth blocked extra point by the Tigers in the past two seasons. YOUNG GUNS GET FIRST ACTION Auburn has played 14 true freshmen this season, and played 12 in the season opener, which was tied for second behind Florida (15) for the most true freshmen played by any team in the country. The true freshmen who have played included: DL Kenneth Carter, LB Jessel Curry, DB Chris Davis, RB Michael Dyer, WR Antonio Goodwin, LB Jake Holland, WR Shaun Kitchens, DE Corey Lemonier, DB Demetruce McNeal, K Cody Parkey, WR Trovon Reed, DE Craig Sanders, DB Ryan Smith and DL Jeffrey Whitaker. COMEBACK KIDS Auburn overcame double-digit deficits to beat both Clemson and South Carolina. The Tigers trailed Clemson 17-0 in the second quarter Sept. 18 before winning 27-24 in overtime, and trailed the Gamecocks 20-7 in the second period Sept. 25 before rallying for a 35-27 victory. This is just the third time since 1970 that Auburn has had two wins in the same season while overcoming double digit deficits, and the first time it happened in consecutive games. In 1997, Auburn overcame 11-point deficits to beat both Alabama in the Iron Bowl and Clemson in the Peach Bowl. In 1972, Auburn trailed Georgia Tech by 14 and Alabama by 16 in the Punt Bama Punt game before winning both contests. The victory over Clemson also marked the first time that Auburn overcame a deficit of at least 17 points to win since Sept. 28, 2002, when the Tigers trailed Syracuse 17-0 at Jordan-Hare Stadium before coming back to win 37-34 in three overtimes. It was just Auburn’s fourth 17point deficit overcome in a victory since 1970. CHIZIK ERA IN SECOND YEAR Head coach Gene Chizik is in his second year at the helm of the Auburn program, after recording the second-most wins by a first-year coach in Auburn history last season. He also became the first Auburn head coach to take his team to a bowl game in his initial season, leading the Tigers to a 38-35 overtime victory over Northwestern in the Outback Bowl. Chizik also became just the third coach in Auburn history to win his first five games as head coach, and became just the third SEC coach since the league expanded in 1992 to start 5-0. STAFF REMAINS INTACT Auburn achieved a rare feat by keeping its entire coaching staff from last season, making Auburn the only school in the SEC to return its head coach and every full-time assistant coach. The last time Auburn returned its entire coaching staff was when the 2006 staff returned intact in 2007. 30+ POINTS EQUALS VICTORY Auburn has won 59 consecutive games when scoring 30 or more points. The last time the Tigers lost when registering at least 30 points was a 56-49, four overtime loss to Georgia in 1996. In its history, Auburn is now 278-4 all-time when scoring at least 30 points. WHEN SCORING 20+ POINTS Since the 2000 season, Auburn is 83-11 (.883) when scoring 20 or more points in a game. Dating back to the start of the 1993 season, Auburn is 126-18-1 (.872) when scoring 20 or more points in a game. JORDAN-HARE STADIUM Now celebrating its 71st year as home to the Auburn football team, Jordan-Hare Stadium is the nation’s 10th-largest on-campus stadium, with a capacity of 87,451 fans. The Tigers, who have averaged more than 80,000 fans during each of the past 17 seasons, are 274-69-7 (.793) all-time at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn has had 10 straight winning seasons at Jordan-Hare Stadium, posting a mark of 60-15 (.800) at home since the 2000 season. The Tigers were undefeated at home during two of those seasons, going 7-0 in both 2000 and 2004. UNDER THE LIGHTS AT JORDAN-HARE Auburn has been tough to beat in night games at Jordan-Hare Stadium, accumulating a record of 22-4 (.846) since the 2000 season in home games starting at 6 p.m. or later, including a 3-0 mark this year. That stretch includes a 5-1 record against nationally-ranked opponents, with wins over No. 1 Florida in 2001, No. 2 Florida in 2006, No. 7 Tennessee in 2003, No. 12 South Carolina this season and No. 14 Georgia in 2000.

THE SENIOR CLASS Head coach Gene Chizik has a senior class that includes 24 players at Auburn in 2010, which is the largest in Auburn history and almost double the size of last year’s senior class of 13. The previous largest senior class was 23 in 1988. Mario Fannin leads the group with 45 games played, including three in 2006 before redshirting and 42 games over the past four seasons, while Michael Goggans and Lee Ziemba have played in all 43 games since 2007. Mike Blanc and Wes Byrum are next with 42 games played each, followed by Zac Etheridge and Craig Stevens (41), Antoine Carter and Ryan Pugh (38), Kodi Burns (37), Mike Berry (36), Josh Bynes (35) and Zach Clayton (32). HIGHLY TOUTED RECRUITING CLASS While Auburn’s seniors are a critical part of the team, another strong recruiting class is playing a big role in the Tigers’ success. Auburn’s 2010 recruiting class was ranked No. 4 in the nation by both ESPN.com/Scouts, Inc., and Rivals.com and sixth by Scout.com. Seven members of the recruiting class were part of the ESPNU 150. SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW The players on Auburn’s roster ranged in age from 17 to 23 when the season opened. The oldest Tiger, sixth-year senior Aairon Savage (DOB 12/29/86) was 23 years, eight months and six days old on the date of the season opener. The youngest player is freshman Jonathon Mincy (DOB 9/5/92), who celebrated his 18th birthday the day after the Arkansas State game.

2010 Auburn Football Game Notes STARTS STREAKS Senior Lee Ziemba has the longest staring streak on the squad, having started all 43 games over the past four seasons. If he starts all 12 regular-season games this year, he will break Will Herring’s school records of 49 career starts and 49 consecutive starts. One other senior has a streak that dates back to his freshman season, as Ryan Pugh has made 33 straight starts. Senior Josh Bynes is next with 26 consecutive starts and senior Mike Berry has made 23 straight starts. Sophomore Daren Bates has started all 18 games over the last two seasons. TIGER PROS Auburn has demonstrated a proficiency for placing players in the National Football League. There were 27 former Auburn Tigers listed on NFL rosters on opening day, which was tied for 12th most from any school in the nation. Four NFL teams have three former Tigers on the roster, including the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders and Tennessee Titans. Twentytwo of the 32 teams have at least one former Auburn player on the roster. OFFENSE BY THE NUMBERS Auburn’s offense lost quarterback Chris Todd, who accounted for more than 93 percent of Auburn’s passing yards last season, and running back Ben Tate, who rushed for 1,362 yards. Still, the Tigers have more than 91 percent of their receiving yards and 85 percent of their catches, plus more than half of their rushing yards returning this year. THIRD STRAIGHT NEW OPENING DAY QB Junior college transfer Cam Newton became Auburn’s third opening-day starter in as many seasons, but he is no stranger to the SEC. Newton played at Florida as a true freshman in 2007, rushing 16 times for 103 yards and three touchdowns, and also played in the 2008 opener before redshirting. He spent the 2009 season at Blinn (Texas) College, helping the team to the 2009 NJCAA national championship by passing for 2,833 yards and 22 scores while also rushing for 655 yards and 16 TDs, making him the No. 1-ranked junior college prospect in the country according to Rivals.com.

RUNNING BACK U. Despite losing Ben Tate, a second-round NFL draft pick of the Houston Texans, Auburn still has a deep stable of talented backs in the fold. Senior Mario Fannin leads the group with 996 career rushing yards. Fannin, who has also spent time as a wide receiver and kick returner, was the team’s second-leading receiver last year with 42 catches for 413 yards and three scores. He currently has 2,829 career all-purpose yards, and is just 301 yards away from cracking Auburn’s all-time top 10 list in that category. Sophomore Onterio McCalebb is also back after gaining 565 yards on the ground as a true freshman. McCalebb became the first Auburn freshman ever to rush for 100+ yards in his first two collegiate games. Also added to the mix is freshman Michael Dyer, who was the No. 1ranked high school running back in the country last year according to ESPN.com/Scouts, Inc. WIDEOUTS RETURN FROM A TO Z Junior Biletnikoff Award candidate Darvin Adams headlines a talented group of wide receivers that return in 2010. Adams set an Auburn single-season record with 60 receptions in 2009, and his 997 receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches were third best in school history. He was named MVP of the Outback Bowl after setting an Auburn bowl record with 12 grabs for 142 yards. Senior Terrell Zachery was Auburn’s No. 2 receiver last year, finishing with 26 receptions for 477 yards and five touchdowns. Zachery was a big play specialist, averaging 49.2 yards per TD catch while also rushing nine times for 214 yards (23.8 yards per carry) and a score. AUBURN BY THE NUMBERS The Tigers return 48 lettermen from last season, including 24 on offense, 22 on defense and two specialists. Auburn returns seven starters on offense and eight on defense. After neither team could put together a scoring drive in the third quarter, Kentucky tied the game at 14-14 with 6:29 left in the game as Will Fidler took a quarterback draw back up the middle for a two-yard touchdown run, capping a 12-play, 75-yard drive. Cobb's touchdown run with 3:17 remaining put Kentucky ahead for good at 21-14. Cobb accounted for all of Kentucky's yards on the five-play, 68-yard drive, which included a 61-yard rush on second and six from the Kentucky 32. Tate's became the first Auburn running back go for 100-plus yards in three consecutive games since Kenny Irons did it in 2005. Kodi Burns finished second on the team in rushing with 38 yards on six carries, followed by Onterio McCalebb with 22 yards on seven carries. Quarterback Chris Todd connected on 10 of 24 passes, including an interception in the game. Darvin Adams was his top target on the night, pulling in three passes for 57 yards. Terell Zachery followed with four receptions for 24 yards. Defensively for Auburn, Josh Bynes led the team with nine tackles, followed by Daren Bates with eight. Each accounted for six solo tackles in the game. Bynes also tallied a quarterback sack, his first of the season.

Cam Newton accounted for five touchdowns and 357 yards of total offense, rushing for a school-record 171 yards on 15 carries as a quarterback, as Auburn defeated Arkansas State, 52-26, to open up the 2010 football season. Newton, playing in his first game at Auburn, rushed for three touchdowns and threw for two others as Auburn racked up 608 yards of total offense on the night. Arkansas State struck first, but Auburn scored on three of its next four posessions to take a 21-6 lead. Kodi Burns got it started with a 3-yard run with 3:27 left in the first quarter. Mario Fannin followed with a 36-yard reception from Cam Newton less than three minutes later. Newton then picked up his first rushing touchdown on a 2-yard run with 9:43 left in the half. The teams traded blows to wrap up the half. After an ASU touchdown Auburn’s Quindarius Carr responded 47 seconds later with a 48 yard catch from Newton to put the lead back at 28-13. Following an ASU field goal, Newton closed out the half by tearing off on a 71yard run on a broken play, picking up his second rushing touchdown of the game. Auburn took a 35-16 lead into the half as Newton rushed for two scores and threw another in the first half alone, taking less than two minutes on each drive and using only 16 total plays. ASU struck first again in the second half, but Fannin caught his second touchdown pass of the game with 8:07 left in the third quarter. The Tigers extended the lead as time expired in the quarter with Wes Byrum connecting on his first field goal of the season, a 24-yard attempt. Freshman Michael Dyer scored his first career touchdown with 9:11 left in the game, coming in on a 2-yard run to make the score 52-23. He finished the night with 95 yards rushing. The Red Wolves would score once more on the team’s final posession to finish the game with the 52-26 Auburn win. Newton threw for 186 yards on the night, completing nine of 14 passes and tossing three touchdowns passes. Cam Newton, Nick Fairley and a strong Tiger defense led No. 21 Auburn to a 17-14 victory over Mississippi State in the SEC opener for both teams at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field on Sept. 9. It is AU’s 17th SEC-opening win in 18 tries. Newton threw for 136 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 70 yards while defensive lineman Fairley had an interception, fumble recovery and three sacks. The Tigers defense limited Mississippi State to only 246 total yards. Auburn took the opening kickoff and grabbed a quick 7-0 lead only 3:38 into the game on a 39-yard Newton touchdown pass on a screen to Emory Blake, marking his first touchdown reception of his career. On the 8-play, 68-yard drive, Newton converted a huge 4th and 1 from the State 46. After the Tigers sacked the Bulldogs three straight times on a three and out, two by Nick Fairley and the other by Mike Blanc, Quindarius Carr fumbled the ensuing punt and Mississippi State recovered it at the Auburn 20 yard line. Wes Byrum's 39-yard field goal in the first overtime period propelled No. 16 Auburn to a thrilling 27-24 win over Clemson in front of a sold-out Jordan-Hare Stadium on Sept. 18. Auburn trailed 17-3 at halftime but used a 21-point third quarter to take a lead before winning in the first overtime period. Clemson's Chandler Catanzaro had a chance to send the game to a second overtime period but missed a 32-yard field goal into the Auburn student section end of the stadium. Darvin Adams finished the game with 118 yards on five catches with a touchdown, including an eight-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter that tied the game at 17-17. Onterrio McCalebb led Auburn on the ground with 81 yards and a touchdown on 10 rushes and teammate Michael Dyer had 69 yards on 16 rushes. Cam Newton was 7-for-14 for 203 yards and two touchdowns and added 68 yards on the 17 rushes. Auburn, which last overcame a 17-0 deficit in 2002, went up 24-17 lead as Newton and Adams hooked up for four completions that covered 95 yards and directly led to two touchdowns, with Adams catching one and McCalebb running one in. McCalebb's 12-yard touchdown run capped a six-play, 61-yard drive for Auburn to start the comeback, bringing Auburn to within a touchdown, 17-10, midway through the third quarter. The Auburn defense created four turnovers and Auburn quarterback Cam Newton accounted for all five touchdowns as No. 17 Auburn claimed a 35-27 victory over No. 12 South Carolina on Sept. 25 in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Newtwon rushed 25 times for 176 yards and three touchdowns as Auburn improved to 4-0, 20 SEC. Josh Bynes forced one fumble and had a key interception of backup South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw as Auburn picked Shaw twice, both in the final quarter, and forced South Carolina starting quarterback Stephen Garcia into a pair of costly fourth-quarter fumbles. Newton had rushing touchdowns of 54 yards, three yards and four yards and also threw two fourth-quarter touchdowns. The first was to Philip Lutzenkirchen, a seven-yard pass that put Auburn ahead, 28-27.
