The Meet Friday’s meet is the 113th all-time meeting between the two programs. The meet will also be the first visit by the Crimson Tide to Auburn Arena. Last season, Auburn was defeated by Alabama 197.075-194.850.

Strong Opener with Georgia Auburn opened its home schedule with its strongest scoring output of the year. The Tigers broke 105 for the first time in 2012 and posted season-high scores in three events (bars, beam and floor). Additionally, the meet with Georgia set a new Auburn Arena gymnastics attendance record with 4,508 fans in attendance.

Auburn in the Rankings Auburn reached 16th in this week’s rankings, its highest point since the final rankings of the 2010 season. Auburn ranks 19th in vault, 13th in uneven bars, 15th in balance beam and 28th in floor exercise.

Shields Shines Against UGA Senior Kylie Shields put on a show Friday night against Georgia. The senior from Mahopac, N.Y. claimed her third career all-around title as she bested Georgia’s Noel Couach in a heads up all-around showdown with a season-high AA score of 39.250. THE 2012 AUBURN TIGERS

Yokay a Go After competing in only the uneven bars a week ago at LSU, Auburn will send out junior Petrina Yokay in both the bars and beam against Georgia. Yokay was an all-around competitor in Cancun and placed second in the event, but has been hobbled by injury since the trip to Mexico. Auburn Stumbles in Baton Rouge Despite finishing two spots ahead of LSU at the Cancun Classic, Auburn fell to LSU in the SEC opening meet for both squads on January 13. Auburn senior Kylie Shields set a career high in the vault with a score of 9.875 and tied her career high on beam with a 9.900. The Tigers led after two events, but multiple falls on beam cost Auburn a chance at the victory. Cancun Classic a Success With a score of 194.725, Auburn finished in third place at the 2012 Cancun Classic at the Iberostar Resort in Cancun, Mexico on January 6. The Tigers edged fourth-place Iowa by nearly a full point and also scored higher than fifth-place LSU. Arkansas was first with a score of 196.450 and Arizona placed second (195.150). Junior Petrina Yokay took second in the all-around competition with a score of 39.200 and senior Kylie Shields posted a 9.875 to take second in the uneven bars. Yokay set a new career-best mark in the all-around and tied her career-high totals in beam and floor. Shields tied her career high mark on bars. Recruiting Class Ranked in Top 10 Nationally With the addition of freshman Lexus Demers for the 2012 season, Auburn’s class of freshmen ranks among the top groups in the country. CollegeGymFans.com ranked Auburn’s class as the 10th-best in the nation on January 4. Auburn is one of five SEC programs in the top 10. Demers Joins Program After enrolling for the Spring 2012 semester on Monday, freshman Lexus Demers has joined the Auburn program for the 2012 season. Demers, who graduated high school a semester early in December, could compete for the Tigers as soon as January 13 at LSU.

Strength of Schedule Ranking Auburn’s 2012 schedule was ranked as the seventh-most difficult among NCAA Division I programs according to CollegeGymFans.com. Preseason No. 17 Auburn will face eight programs this season ranked in the NACGC/W pre-season top 25. Auburn on TV Six Auburn meets are scheduled to air in tape-delayed fashion on television this season. Home meets against Georgia (1/24 - 6 pm), Alabama (1/31 - 6 pm) and Florida (2/26 - 12 pm) will be featured on CSS. Additionally, road meets at LSU (1/21 - 4 pm) and Arkansas (2/11 - 8 pm) will air on the Fox Sports Networks.
