Schools Visitor Information
Transport, parking and logistical information to ensure a relaxing and safe visit for you and your students.
ASB Waterfront Theatre, 138 Halsey Street, Wynyard Quarter
Arriving at The Theatre
Please arrive at the theatre at least 30 minutes before the performance starts.
Travelling by bus
Students will disembark at the Madden St bus parking area. Buses must approach the Theatre from the Beaumont end of Madden Street and then pull into the bus stop to unload students.
Bus signage: It is essential that you ensure that your school’s name can be clearly seen from the street by our Front of House staff.
You must not stop on Halsey Street outside the ASB Waterfront Theatre.
When You Arrive at The Theatre

From Northern Motorway
Your school will be greeted by an Auckland Theatre Company staff member who will guide your school to their waiting area. You will be collected from this area by an usher who will escort you to your seats. All schools are seated in a specific order. Please ensure cell phones are off and everyone has visited the bathroom prior to being seated.

We love an attentive and responsive audience. Please note that recording or photography of any kind is prohibited in the theatre. Please don’t eat food or chew gum in the theatre. There is space to eat in the foyer before or after the performance. There will be an usher at each entrance if you or a student should need assistance during the performance. Some performances include an interval. We suggest that ākonga remain in the theatre building during the interval. Enjoy the show!
After The Performance
If you are planning on attending the Post-show Forum, please stay in your seat. The forum will start shortly after the show and lasts approximately 20 minutes. You are welcome to audio record or film the forum.
Please remain in your seats after the forum to assist the bus team in getting your group to your bus.
When your bus is ready we will collect your school from the auditorium and guide you to your bus.

L Individual medical needs are to be managed by the class teacher. The class teacher/supervisors are responsible for the specific medical needs of students.
L Follow all instructions from the ASB Waterfront Theatre Front of House team. Once safe to do so, immediately evacuate groups to designated safe zones. All Front of House team members are on radio comms.

In spite of precautions, exposure to COVID-19 happened during a visit
L Practice essential hygiene precautions such as regular hand-washing and use of hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer is available in all public and teaching spaces.
All hard surfaces are cleaned regularly. Any staff with cold or flu-like symptoms will be stood down until they are symptom-free.
L Auckland Theatre Company and the ASB Waterfront Theatre follows New Zealand government guidelines.
