ĀKONGA WORKSHOPS

Mon 7 Aug to Fri 25 Aug

Auckland Theatre Company workshops share tools, techniques, and methodologies from the rehearsal room into your classroom. Each workshop is 50 minutes in duration, designed to fit within your timetable. In each workshop there will also be time for questions, discussion, and reflection.

IN-SCHOOL ĀKONGA WORKSHOPS

$100 per workshop

Intro to Auckland Theatre Company’s Things That Matter

Ākonga will grapple with the same creative questions and challenges as the team behind Auckland Theatre Company’s Things That Matter and experiment with their own performance or design solutions. This will prepare them to encounter Things That Matter not just as audience, but as creatives.

Unpacking Auckland Theatre Company’s Things That Matter

Students will investigate their theatre experience in terms of action: what did Things That Matter do — to me, to my friends, to the audience — and how did it do it? We will then look to developing our creative/ critical language to describe and better understand these effects.

ZOOM WORKSHOPS

Shorter versions of our pre-show and post-show workshops can be delivered via Zoom, live from the ATC Studios to your classroom. 35 minutes in duration, Zoom workshops are available for any schools.

$55 per Zoom workshop, including:

• 25-minute creative workshop

• 10-minute Q&A.

We are looking forward to working with you and your ākonga to unpack Things That Matter
by Gary Henderson, adapted from the memoir by David Galler.
