40 YEARS. ONE GOAL. Infinity has been advancing the science of sound – one innovation at a time – for 40 years now. If our very first product in 1968 – an innovative electrostatic loudspeaker with a servo-controlled subwoofer – strongly suggested that sonic perfection in the reproduction of recorded sound might be an achievable goal, our newest system, the Prelude® Forty, removes all doubt. Infinity’s first 40 years have resulted in a continuous lineup of landmark systems and technical advancements that have been roundly acclaimed by critics, and widely adopted by competitors. And all it’s taken has been an unwavering commitment to technology, performance and design for the better part of half a century.

PRELUDE FORTY ®
ADVANCING THE LEGEND. The Prelude® name was introduced more than a decade ago and has been proudly applied to some of the most critically acclaimed and fondly remembered systems in Infinity® history. With an array of CMMD® drivers that includes a four-driver array of midrange transducers, dual side-firing woofers and a 25mm-dome tweeter, the new Prelude Forty owes a clear design debt to Prelude systems that have preceded it. But with MRS™ driver technology for exceptionally flat broadband frequency response and uniform on- and off-axis dispersion, the Prelude Forty achieves a level of sonic realism all its own, with a warmth that can reveal the soul of any musical performance.

MRS DRIVERS.
CMMDTWEETER.
Prelude Forty loudspeakers employ second-generation Maximum Radiating Surface™ (MRS) flat-panel transducers. These revolutionary patent-pending drivers feature dual elliptical voice coils, which move the rectangular MRS diaphragms much like an ideal flat piston. This results in crystal-clear, resonance-free operation throughout the driver’s entire dynamic range, and sends a cleaner, more uniform sound to listeners’ ears.
A fast, lightweight, newly designed 25mm CMMD-dome tweeter extends the high-frequency driver’s response and delivers cleaner, more realistic high-frequency sound.
Bi-wirable binding posts
DUAL SIDE-MOUNTED WOOFERS.
Available in a real-wood cherry veneer
The Prelude Forty features dual 200mm side-firing CMMD woofers, for sound that is extravagantly full, deep and clean, under any listening conditions, with intensely realistic bass response that conventional full-range systems cannot duplicate.

INFINITY CASCADE SERIES ™
THE NEW SHAPE OF SOUND. The popularity of flat-panel plasma and LCD video displays ought to suggest at least one certainty about the future of home audio – tomorrow’s loudspeakers won’t be the boxy, intrusive instruments we know today. They’ll deliver all the power and realism we’ve come to expect, but they’ll be thinner and more elegant than ever before. And the first of this brave new generation? The Infinity Cascade™ Series. With patent-pending Maximum Radiating Surface™ (MRS™) flat-panel transducers, Infinity Cascade speakers deliver uncompromised sonic performance from strikingly beautiful units that are thin enough to be wall-mounted. And because the MRS diaphragm functions much like a flat piston, Infinity Cascade speakers achieve flat broadband frequency response and uniform on- and off-axis dispersion with minimal breakup, even at high listening levels. That’s performance that not even the boxiest conventional loudspeakers can surpass.

FILL YOUR SPACE WITH SOUND, NOT SPEAKERS. Design has always been an Infinity hallmark, and the revolutionary technologies built in to Infinity Cascade loudspeakers have given our designers new freedom. The bulky footprint of the conventional loudspeaker is gone (with wall-mounting the footprint disappears entirely). Even the powered subwoofer – that most essential of Infinity innovations – has an unexpected new look. Narrow, elegant and (above all) thin, Infinity Cascade speakers will surround you with brilliant, captivating sound, without intruding on your space. Has there ever been a more beautiful way to experience the full excitement of your favorite movies and music?

INFINITY MRS FLAT-PANEL TRANSDUCER
IT’S NOT EASY BEING FLAT. The appeal of flat-panel transducers has never been more obvious, and the basic technology behind them is straightforward enough. But vintage EMI flat panels had performance limitations in the low frequencies and suffered from voice coils that were prone to thermal compression, making them inappropriate for use in high-performance speakers. In developing the Infinity Cascade MRS transducers, Infinity engineers incorporated new materials and technologies that have overcome the drawbacks and deliver significant performance benefits.
SIGNAL LINES CONVENTIONAL CONE
Infinity engineers were able to strike the perfect balance between electro-acoustic efficiency and reliability with patented CMMD® diaphragms.
Available in a real-wood cherry veneer
Available in a high-gloss black finish
The flat pistonic response of the Infinity Cascade MRS drivers sends a cleaner, more uniform sound to listeners’ ears than conventional cones. The geometry of a cone inherently creates signals of unequal length with different arrival times, causing what engineers call “time domain smear.” Signals in Infinity Cascade speakers arrive more closely together for exceptional detail and resolution.
Another flat-panel challenge was to find a way to uniformly drive as much of the diaphragm’s radiating surface as possible. A traditional cone can easily be driven by a small voice coil at its apex, but flat panels require a completely different approach. Infinity engineers developed dual elliptical voice coils for the Infinity Cascade MRS drivers. With more than six times the voice-coil contact of a typical cone transducer, they move the diaphragm much like an ideal flat piston, for crystalclear, resonance-free operation throughout the driver’s entire dynamic range.
Deep, realistic bass is an essential element of the cinematic experience. But it’s just as essential when duplicating the experience of a live musical performance. With the high-performance, small-footprint Model Twelve and the even more powerful and uniquely thin Model Fifteen, authoritative, distortion-free bass is delivered from subwoofers that are easily integrated into any music or home theater system.
Higher dynamic range: In addition to driving the flat diaphragm more uniformly, dual elliptical voice coils offer another benefit. The greatly increased surface area of the coils allows them to dissipate heat more efficiently, reducing thermal compression and dramatically increasing the speaker’s dynamic range. The result is increased sonic clarity with reduced distortion.
Both the Model Fifteen and the Model Twelve are designed for easy integration into your listening room, as well as into your décor. And both subwoofers can be tuned using the proprietary Room Adaptive Bass Optimization System™ (R.A.B.O.S.™) kit.
Deeper, cleaner bass from room-friendly and more aesthetically pleasing designs. It’s a combination that discerning listeners (and their decorators) have long been hoping for.

Ultrathick baffles provide a rigid, stable platform for the drivers while simultaneously minimizing unwanted edge diffractions off the baffle.
Crossover design can be optimized with shortened signal paths, yielding cleaner sound reproduction.
With the Constant Acoustic Impedance (CAI) waveguide, the full effect of the CMMD tweeter can be realized, resulting in cleaner, more uniform sound throughout your listening environment.
CAI™ WAVEGUIDES.
SPECIAL AUDIO EFFECTS.
WIRELESS LOWS.
Acoustic waveguides can improve a loudspeaker’s on- and off-axis high-frequency response. But Infinity Classia Series speakers feature patented Infinity Constant Acoustic Impedance™ (CAI™) waveguides, which create more dynamic headroom by increasing the sensitivity of the high frequencies. That allows for a simpler, more effective crossover design, enabling a seamless sonic transition between the tweeter and the lower-frequency transducers in both two- and three-way designs.
In addition to bookshelf and floorstanding loudspeakers, the Infinity Classia Series includes the uniquely versatile C255ES surround speaker. Wall-mountable with selectable monopole, bipole or dipole configurations, the C255ES is capable of reproducing two discrete audio channels at once. So it can act as a single-point 2-channel loudspeaker in smaller rooms, or upgrade a 5-channel home theater to 7 channels all by itself.
Deep, realistic bass is an essential element of the cinematic experience. But it’s just as essential when duplicating live musical performances. The Infinity PSW310W powered subwoofer features 2.4GHz technology for an effortless wireless connection to your system, and easy placement anywhere in your listening room.
All models utilize heavy-duty, gold-plated binding posts to ensure long-term signal transfer and easy connection to any system. The C336 is also bi-wirable.
The sophisticated 72-point frequency-response measurement, conducted in one of four Infinity anechoic chambers, allows for accurate analysis of a speaker’s total performance before the listening tests even begin.
40KHZ RESPONSE. The audio portion of today’s high-definition digital sources is pushing consumer audio beyond the limits of the human ear. But Infinity Classia speakers feature high-frequency drivers that extend to 40kHz, delivering nuances you may never have experienced before in recorded audio.
The C255ES offers selectable monopole/bipole/dipole settings.
The C255ES allows you to connect each side separately, giving you two discrete speakers from a single enclosure.

And because each TSS-4000 speaker is sold individually, customizing the system to your unique requirements is easy.

INFINITY TECHNOLOGY ®
CMMD
®
CERAMIC METAL MATRIX DIAPHRAGM TECHNOLOGY
DRIVING THE SOUND: CMMD TRANSDUCERS. In loudspeakers, transducers are the engines of sound – and diaphragms are their pistons. An ideal diaphragm material would be stiff enough to provide perfectly uniform contact with room air, lightweight enough to react quickly to musical impulses, and acoustically neutral to eliminate resonance. With Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragms, Infinity® engineers have come close to achieving this ideal. By bonding a ceramic compound
Scanning-laser vibrometer measurement of cone movement for a 165mm CMMD cone at a frequency of 3.5kHz.
called alumina to both sides of a low-density aluminum substrate, they created a matrix that is actually stiffer and lighter than the ceramic itself. CMMD technology delivers extremely accurate pistonic motion in midrange and low-frequency transducers, fast enough to drive unwanted cone resonances up in octave to frequencies beyond the range of the transducer itself. The result is dramatically reduced distortion and a more natural, detailed sound.
CMMD drivers incorporate two layers of ceramic alumina bonded to an aluminum core.
Scanning-laser vibrometer measurement of cone movement for a 165mm Kevlar®-weave cone at a frequency of 3.5kHz. CMMD cones have better damping than metal cones, making them an excellent choice for all transducers – woofers, midranges and tweeters.
Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragms are much stiffer than standard metal diaphragms.
Because the metal substrate is protected by a skin of ceramic, CMMD cones do not deteriorate, even with extreme humidity, salt and moisture.
34 HOME
Ceramic materials can withstand extreme temperatures, moisture, humidity and sunlight, and Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragms share these properties.

R.A.B.O.S. ™
ROOM ADAPTIVE BASS OPTIMIZATION SYSTEM™ TECHNOLOGY WORKING THE ROOM: R.A.B.O.S.™ Technology Distinct bass is essential to sonic realism in music and movie sound. But in most environments, bass quality is determined as much by the room itself as it is by the speaker system. Long-wavelength low-frequency sounds
In-room subwoofer frequency response measurements, before and after R.A.B.O.S., confirm that “room boom” has been neutralized.
tend to reflect back and forth in a room, exaggerating some frequencies and diminishing others. After studying literally thousands of real-world listening rooms, Infinity engineers discovered that many rooms share a large single-resonance peak, usually between 60Hz and 100Hz. Proprietary Room Adaptive Bass Optimization System™ technology– with three easily adjusted controls, a sound-level meter and a special calibration CD – effectively corrects that peak without introducing phase distortion. This lets your subwoofer work with your room, instead of against it.
The Infinity R.A.B.O.S. kit.
TUNED BASS RESPONSE. The Infinity Bass Optimization System™ delivers deeper, more detailed low frequencies by reducing the exaggerated bass peaks that some listening rooms produce. Add the optional R.A.B.O.S.™ kit to more precisely calibrate bass response for your particular room.

THE PRIMARY MISSION OF INFINITY ENGINEERS HAS ALWAYS BEEN PERFECTING THE TECHNOLOGY OF SOUND REPRODUCTION. ®
YOUR PRIMARY MISSION? JUST TAKING IT ALL IN. Looking for a more moving audio experience? Take Infinity® car audio for a ride. Innovative materials and breakthrough engineering have always put Infinity products out in front of the competition’s. Infinity engineers were the first to use polypropylene as a speaker-cone material, and the first to build fullrange Class D amplifiers (a full thirty years before they became popular). Infinity engineers also pioneered the use of textiledome tweeters, samarium-cobalt speaker magnets, servo-controlled subwoofers, and EMIT® and EMIM™ planar tweeters and midrange speakers. Today, Infinity mobile audio loudspeakers feature MMD® tweeter diaphragms, Plus One® woofer cones, True Four Ohm impedance to extract all the power from any amplifier, selectable-impedance subwoofers, and worldrenowned BassLink® powered subwoofers. So expect the accuracy and detail that have been Infinity hallmarks for forty years, but be prepared for extreme output that may surprise you.

BASSLINK SERIES ®
After inventing servo-controlled subwoofer systems, Infinity® engineers adapted the technology developed for the finest home audio loudspeakers to create the BassLink® system, which set a new standard for in-vehicle bass reproduction. It features Bass EQ, a 0° or 180° phase switch – optimizing the phase to specific vehicle locations – and other innovations. • User-adjustable controls allow listeners to set the system’s response to achieve optimal performance based on the vehicle’s cabin gain or transfer function. These controls include: a 0° or 180° phase switch; a continuously variable electronic low-pass filter that is adjustable between 70Hz and 170Hz; variable input sensitivity; and Bass EQ that provides for adjustments between +3dB and –6dB. At maximum gain, the system can accept inputs as low as 250mV.

The highlighted combinations will provide the best compromise between low-frequency extension/flat response and high output, and are considered optimum. Higher ripple values indicate a “boomier” sound and provide higher output at the expense of flat-frequency response and low-frequency extension. A – Sealed enclosure (Figure 1)
