Front FrontPerspective Perspective
The school provides a unique approach to the learning experience. The open learning spaces encourage students to learn in a social setting, while providing the necessary instructional learning centers. All the school activities become a juxtaposition to the eye and create an optimal social learning environment. The school’s central gym becomes a landmark for the surrounding neighborhood and encourages community functions.

Working with the existing topography to create a graceful manipulation of earth for the purpose of entertainment and socialization, the park becomesa central hub for east side residents of the Milwaukee area and boosts neighborhood morale.

Amphitheatre Landscape Design
Keeping the integrity of the landscape by incorporating pre-existing pathways and foliage. Foliage provides privacy and optimal acoustics. Slight manipulation of the earth creates a variety of social opportunities for the surrounding residents.

Cohousing
Creating an Integrative Work and Living Space for the Young Entrepreneur
7
Cohousing for the young entreprenuer is a design strategy that will influence human performance in 21st Century Architecture. Creating a space that intregrates both relms of life, live and work, creates a new type of leading-edge design environment for collaboration and innovation. Water is used as the primary design tool to create moments for gathering and collaboration. Juxtaposition of movement between floors is another tool used to provide visual stimulation and motivation. Left: LED interactive window panels allow entrepreneurs to display and contemplate work. Central fireplace creates social interaction through comfort and circular placement. Right: Displays connectivity between living and working spaces. Lap pool creates an interactive moment, through visual appeal and stimulation, for entrepreneurs to engage socially.
8
Cohousing A collaborative space is created where the lap pool meets the second floor. The edges of the pool serve as a bar to promote interaction between those swimming and those working. Individual pod spaces are separated by glass and an elevated floor, but still allow views into the collaborative space for visual stimulation.
North/South Section Top: Detail of heavy greenwall with delicate pocket doors. Left: Detail of individual working pod spaces. Swinging doors open for use, creating privacy between pods.

Underneath upper level is where lap pool decends into gathering place for entrepreneurs.
Lowered central space is used for intimate collaboration. Lighted wall can be used for presentations and display. Right: Double-sided library creates a boundary between the collaborative and private space. Left: Elevated areas become personal pods for individual work and thought.

Perspectives View from the bridge connecting the living quarters to the collaborative and quiet spaces. Furniture faces each other to promote social interaction. Beyond is the double-sided library where the entrepreneurs may choose a quieter space versus the louder social space.
Lap pool decends into second floor creating ultimate social interaction. Interactive panels are placed along walls for presentation and display. Individual work spaces look out on to the collaborative space for visual stimulation. Greenwall creates a relaxing calming environment. Furniture is mobile so the entrepreneurs can create the space.

Library Space View down length of space. Water is the central design tool for collaboration as well as visual connectivity.
View within the library. Stairs lead to a quiet area for individual study, while the central space creates a small central hub for intimate collaboration. Beyond is a bridge connecting the collaborative space to the personal quarters. Descending water from the pool connects first and second floor as well as views through the double heighted space.

Textille Gallery
This open space concept allows for various types of textile displays within the gallery. The central staircase pulls viewers up and around the gallery space. Attention to light and sculpture on the second floor provide visual appeal.

Tectonics
A Study in Linear Tectonics
Discovering the art of architectural tectonics through a series of projects resulting in an organizational scheme using the word “linear. Left: Drawing, based off of a given city block, using various tones, line weights, and line types. Middle: Developing an armature based upon various section cuts throughout the city block drawing, creating the foundation for a campus plan design. Right: View of armature using linear tectonics.

Campus Auditorium
A Study in Linear Tectonics
The linear tectonic strategies from the armature and fragment were used to create a designated auditorium space within the campus plan. The auditorium space illustrates linearity as well as thin versus thick facade, further emphasizing the word “linear.

Designing an opening to the iconic War Memorial building along Milwaukee’s downtown primary location, Lake Michigan. Using model making as a design tool to understand light, proportion, significance, space, and materiality.
East view provides ultimate views towards Lake Michigan. South lighting creates unique shadows on north inner wall and floor.
West view retains the integrity of the already existing facade. Lower level provides space for contemplation and relaxation.
