Mum: I’ll keep alive my family’s memory Marymount gift praised ■ Audrey Ellard Walsh
THERE has been an incredible outpouring of goodwill in response to the generosity of Cork woman Catherine Courtney who left €170,668 to Marymount University Hospital and Hospice in her will. Catherine, from Horgan’s Buildings, died aged 84 and made the unbelievably generous donation even though she never needed the facility. Her donation was praised by Ev ening Echo readers, many of whom have shared their own personal experiences with Marymount via our Facebook page. A post linking to the article attracted nearly 3,500 likes and almost 100 comments from people commending Mrs Courtney’s selfless act. ■ See Pages 3 and 19 for more.

I am not ready to face that.” She is planning a change in career direction and starting a course in accounting this autumn, and will also address more than 30 police forces from across Europe at a conference in the UK this winter, on the issue of dealing with suicidal drivers. Elber added: “I would like to see a little positive come out of all this. The big thing is to make sure our beauties are never forgotten.” See Pages 22/23 for interview.
