As the city switched on its Christmas lights the Taoiseach arrived to light up the region with two significant job announcements. Mahon-based Voxpro announced 400 new roles as the company continues its expansion while 75 new clinical positions were created at the Bon Secours Hospital along with a €64m extension. Taoiseach Enda Kenny was due to visit both sites this afternoon to make the announcements. Voxpro, which is owned by Cork husband and wife team Dan and Linda Kiely, was this morning described by Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney as a ‘real Cork success story.’ Minister for Europe, Dara Murphy, also expressed delight at the announcements, which come on the back of 1,000 jobs at Apple last week. Voxpro has grown from a small packaging company with just six employees to one of Ireland’s largest multilingual tech support and outsourcing businesses. It currently has 900 employees in its Mahon office and works for Google and Airbnb. Mr Kenny was also due to visit the Bon Secours hospital to announce a €64 million extension and 75 new clinical jobs at the hospital, with the expansion to deliver up to 200 construction jobs over the two year project.
