Mayor bans cyber bullies CORK LADIES BID FAREWELL TO CHRISTMAS IN STYLE ■ Audrey Ellard Walsh WOMEN’S Little Christmas proved to be as popular as ever last night as many mothers, daughters, aunts and sisters enjoyed a night on the town and bid a last farewell to the Christmas season. The annual Women’s Little Christmas gala concert at the Opera House was a sell-out success, with Finbar Wright and special guests treating the audience to a selection of greatest hits and much-loved favourites. While many were dancing the night away, an event with a difference was taking place in Midleton. Make-up artist Debbie Hayes hosted Let’s Make-Up Midleton, an event for local women affected by the recent floods. ■ See Pages 3, 22 and 23.

The Sinn Féin politician said that he no longer allows the public to post messages on his Facebook and Twitter pages, as he revealed that he has suffered bullying online from social media users. “One of the messages posted made reference to my mother and suggested that I should never have been born,” he L o r d M a y o r : said. Online abuse. “That was particularly upsetting as it had been posted just before she passed away. Some people believe because you are a public figure they have the right to take a shot at you, but what’s worse is when they feel they can take a shot at your family too.” ■ Continued on Page 2.
