Case for Support
Nature thrives where we live, work, and play
As business owners, as land managers, as members of communities, we must recognize that our environmental awareness needs to include all the green spaces around us, not just remote preserves and mountain ranges. Action is required to protect nature where we live, work, and play.
At Audubon International, we envision a world where developed landscapes exist in balance with a healthy environment that supports and sustains the health of individuals, families, and communities.
We invite you to discover how we make a difference
Audubon International Overview Audubon International, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is an environmental education organization that works to reduce the impact development has on nature. Through a growing network of members across various entities (including recreation, tourism and hospitality) and directly working with communities, municipalities, and neighborhood associations, our various programs directly affect millions of acres of land, protect thousands of habitats for flora and fauna species, and measurably reduce the influx of pollutants into soils, water, air, and ecosystems. As part of our endeavor to make an impact on the planet, we envision thousands of properties and communities around the world becoming more environmentally sustainable through good stewardship of the natural environment. We educate community leaders and stakeholders and help them embrace environmental sustainability as a central element of planning and practice.
Our Programs The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ACSP) is an education and certification program that helps organizations and businesses protect our environment while enhancing their bottom line. The ACSP for Golf is a widely recognized and highly-regarded education and certification program that helps protect our environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf. The Signature Program provides environmental planning assistance to new developments. The program helps landowners design for the environment so that both economic and environmental objectives are achieved. The Classic Program helps owners and managers of properties with existing land uses who have interest in joining a program of similar rigor to the Signature Program. These properties include those being redeveloped or going through restoration. The Green Lodging Program provides the assurance that lodging facilities have met environmental best practice standards. The Green Neighborhoods Program engages community groups in projects that protect and enhance the land, water, wildlife, and natural resources around them. The Sustainable Communities Program helps communities take steps to ensure that they are healthy and vibrant places in which to live, work, and play both today and tomorrow.
Our Mission
Audubon International inspires and empowers individuals, businesses, and communities to improve environmental health within human landscapes.
What is the value of Audubon International’s programs?
A
udubon International’s programs adhere to the most current scientific research in order to encourage best practices in land management and environmental stewardship.
We help practitioners and citizens recognize the connection between dayto-day decisions and longterm financial sustainability of their organizations. We publicly celebrate sustainability efforts of our members and offer marketing tools to communicate their environmental commitment to help bolster economic development. We award certification to reward our members who complete program requirements and reach our high environmental standards. It is through this value and these incentives that we are able to build a network of environmentally responsible properties and healthy communities.
W How does Audubon International make a difference?
e engage businesses, communities, property managers, and individuals in voluntary actions and practices that are sustainable and promote the environmental stewardship of private and publicly owned lands. Through a growing global network of members across various industries (including golf/recreation, tourism, and hospitality) and at the scale of private communities and municipalities, our programs have improved millions of acres of land in the following critical ways: • Habitat conservation and restoration for native plants and animals • Resource efficiency • Water quality, conservation and protection • Reduction of harmful agents into soils, water, air and ecosystems Our success is based on our ability to educate, and inspire more individuals to be responsible stewards of their lands. The health of our planet depends on improving land and water that is closest to our own homes and communities.
