EARTH DAY

Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year. In 1969 at a UNESCO Conference in San Francisco, peace activist John McConnell proposed a day to honor the Earth and the concept of peace, to first be celebrated on March 21, 1970, the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere. This day of nature's equipoise was later sanctioned in a Proclamation written by McConnell and signed by Secretary General U Thant at the United Nations. A month later a separate Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in first held on April 22, 1970. While this April 22 Earth Day was focused on the United States, an organization launched by Denis Hayes, who was the original national coordinator in 1970, took it international in 1990 and organized events in 141 nations. Numerous communities celebrate Earth Week, an entire week of activities focused on environmental issues. In India, Earth Day 2011 was marked with a groundswell of events and awareness-building drives. Events were organized in over 150 cities and districts to commemorate Earth Day. EARTHDAY

IT'SOURTURNTOLEAD

2015 - Earth Day?s 45th anniversary - could be the most exciting year in environmental history. The year in which economic growth and sustainability join hands. The year in which world leaders finally pass a binding climate change treaty. The year in which citizens and organizations divest from fossil fuels and put their money into renewable energy solutions. These are tough issues but we know what?s at stake is the future of our planet and the survival of life on earth. On Earth Day we need you to take a stand so that together, we can show the world a new direction. It?s our turn to lead. So our world leaders can follow by example.

?The proper use of science is not to conquer nature but to live in it?- Barry Commoner Each year, Earth Day -- April 22 -- marks the anniversary of what many consider the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. The height of hippie and flower-child culture in the United States, 1970 brought the death of Jimi Hendrix, the last Beatles album, and Simon & Garfunkel?s Bridge Over Troubled Water?. Protest was the order of the day, but saving the planet was not the cause.War raged in Vietnam, and students nationwide increasingly opposed it.

WHAT DO PEOPLE DO The April 22 Earth Day is usually celebrated with outdoor performances, where individuals or groups perform acts of service to earth. Typical ways of observing Earth Day include planting trees, picking up roadside trash, conducting various programs for recycling and conservation, using recyclable containers for snacks and lunches. Some people are encouraged to sign petitions to governments, calling for stronger or immediate action to stop global warming and to reverse environmental destruction. Television stations frequently air programs dealing with environmental issues. EARTHLING What was the last time you walk on a beach on a sunny day and feel the grains slipping between your fingers..??? What was the last time you run in a lush green meadow chasing a butterfly??? What was the last time you dance in a rain fall....?? Difficult to recall... Right..?? In today's era of electronic gadgets, we're connected with the whole world on a finger tip but we're losing connection with our own mother earth. Earth day, falling on 22nd April every year, is the great opportunity to cherish our bond with mother earth. Every one has their different ways to celebrate this day. Being a lover of photography, capturing the elements of nature always fascinate me. Out of many forms of photography let's talk about Abstract photography today. Abstract is slightly different than others. General rules of photography can't be applied to it. Where in other forms we capture the emotions of the person who's in front the camera while in abstract we capture the emotions of ourselves. It is often said that 'if you can recognize the subject, it is not an abstract'. It is because an abstract mainly concentrate on a limited portion the subject. You can take anything as a subject all the elements of nature starting from flowers, branches of the tree to Web of spider and even the whirls in still water can be your subject. Trees, rocks, gravel, seashells, dew drops ? even the most common of subjects can produce beautiful abstracts. Even motion and blurriness can create great abstracts. You don't need any special equipment to capture an abstract. All you need is your imagination power and out of box thinking. Taking technically you have to take of your aperture and shutter speed. Aperture will determine your depth of field while Shutter speed affects sharpness-blurriness of your image. Few practice shots can make you master in it. Fews things to remember while choosing the subject. Look for different types of lines, like - intersecting lines, parallel lines, radiating lines, diverting converging lines and zig-zag lines. Branches of a tree, spider webs fit in this category. After lines, looks for shapes. Both 2D 3D shapes can be selected. Now surface. Rough or uneven surfaces create magnificent abstracts. Various shades of colours can be included. Bark of a tree or whirls of a tree trunk are the examples of this. There too much. Just sneak away from your routine schedule and spend some time with nature. You'll be amazed that there is lot to discover even in your backyard. Lastly few lines from the movie wake up Sid... 'Apni manzil ke pichhe daudte hue humari najar kai chijo se hat jaati hein isliye kuchh der hi sahi apni busy zingdi se najar hataiye aur us ehsas ko dhundhiye jo aapke shehar aapnki zingdi ko aapke liye aur bhi khubsoorat banata hein... TECH CENTER CANONEOS5DSR Canon has added to its EOS 5D range with the launch of two 50MP cameras, the 5DS and the 5DS R. Both cameras are high-resolution full frame models, primarily aimed at stills photographers. The only difference between the models is that the 'S' has an optical low-pass filter, while the 'S R' has a self-cancelling filter (the same relationship as Nikon's D800 and D800E models shared). The two cameras will exist alongside the EOD 5D Mark III, acting as dedicated high-resolution cameras primarily intended for studio, landscape and wedding shoots, rather than the all-round capability offered by the existing model. The Mark III still trumps the S and S R in terms of maximum ISO and continuous shooting speed. Slightly unusually for Canon, both models have been announced a long way ahead of their June 2015 availability date, so we wouldn't be surprised if some of these details changed between now and then.

SHUTTERSKILL LONGEXPOSURESHOT

LONGEXPOSURE PHOTOGRAPHY Long-exposure photography or time-exposure photography involves using a long-duration shutter speed to sharply capture the stationary elements of images while blurring, smearing, or obscuring the moving elements. It requires a tripod for keeping the camera steady. Capturing Ferris wheels while they are in motion is fun. As you can see in the photo, This long exposure depicts the sense of motion. The fairs are always fun when you are bored of the rides and intend to see it through a new perspective. Camera : Sony HX300 ISO: 100 Aperture : F8 Shutter speed : 5"

SHUTTERSTORY During my recent trip to Tibet , upon the hill across the barren land I saw the other car travelling the horizons unravelling new land. These places have something special in them. In this photo, the extension of vertical horizon and rule of thirds gives a nice composition.
