M.Arch Dissertation Project

Refurbishing the Catalinas Norte development, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Main Goals: • Encourage pedestrian flow within the urban environment of the business district of Buenos Aires. • Recover neglected spaces by integrating the dissolved grain with the consolidated urban tissue. • Generate an inclusive community Methodology • Creation of semi-public spaces to stimulate a sense of community • Insertion of public and residential programmes within the site to alter the present fixed schedules set by the surrounding office buildings • Identification of time frames when the most pedestrians are found in outdoors. • Provide wind protection and solar availability within the identified time frames through the use of sensible architecture so as to stimulate sedentary activities outdoors.
