THE GIVING GU IDE

Rescue from a Cruel World Just outside Augusta, horses and humans find solace from a chaotic, complex, and often cruel world. Rescue horses find safety; retired racehorses find a soft landing after a life of competition. They all find a place to heal, just be a horse, learn to accept love, and trust humans, perhaps for the first time ever, and gain a second chance. Equine Rescue of Aiken (the “Rescue”) is unique in that we offer a safe landing for retired racehorses; allowing them to decompress and learn how to “be a horse”. As one of 81 organizations accredited by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, the Rescue receives responsibly retired, Off the Track Thoroughbreds (OTTBs). Our goal is to help prepare them for a second career and a new finish line in the journey of life. Our mission includes rescuing and rehabilitating horses who have suffered from starvation/neglect or abandonment - the “thrown away” horses whose emotional scars are as painful as their suffering from

starvation. We work closely with Animal Control throughout the region to provide a safety net and healing to those horses who are out of options. We are a volunteer-based, non-profit organization. We provide many opportunities to connect with the horses, offering programs for children, veterans/active military and volunteers. The life enhancing skills gained by assisting in the care of these horse as well as participating in the educational, horse-to-human connection and support programs, is a extraordinary experience. Each rescued horse has their own story and little of it we will ever know. Their healing begins with a full belly, veterinary attention and compassionate care as they learn to overcome their past, begin trusting and begin a better future. The amazing transformations and second chances, are only possible through the generosity of others. Equine Rescue of Aiken and the horses that we serve are deeply grateful for the donations that make our meaningful work possible.

WE CAN’T SAY NO TO HELPING STARVATION CASES

DONATE NOW Second chances can’t happen without donations. We receive no tax-payer support. 100% of your donation pays for feed and care of each horse. aikenequinerescue.org/donate-now

Providing affordable, quality primary health care for families. Uninsured and Medicaid Welcome As members of your child’s care team, behavioral health providers are available to help them address mental health and spiritual concerns, cope with chronic illness and life problems, and assist with making positive life changes. Their PCP and the behavioral health provider work together to improve your child’s physical, mental, behavioral, and spiritual health and well-being. Patients exceeding the scope of care at CCH will be referred to a specialty mental clinic.

ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS

It’s important our families understand that our providers do not work separately from our mental health professionals and vice versa.

Our pediatricians connect our patients to quality, affordable children’s health care. Primary care services include: physical exams, vaccinations, behavioral health screenings, and referrals for specialty care.

This means a patient cannot receive services from one of our behavioral health providers without first establishing with a primary care provider here at Christ Community.

THE GIVING GU IDE

The gift that gives all year long.

Give the Gift of Great Futures We believe that success is within reach of every child who walks through our doors. We believe that through a world-class Club experience, every child can reach high school graduation with a plan for the future, demonstrate outstanding character & leadership, and live a healthy lifestyle. The neighborhoods which house many of our Clubs are blighted by crime, persistent poverty, and hopelessness. Without the opportunities your gifts provide, many of our members would have no idea there is a whole different world just waiting for them. Because you believe in them, our Club members are vested in the programs that bring about academic achievement, civic engagement, and healthy lifestyle choices. Every day after school and all summer long, our Clubs are bursting at the seams with young people excited to learn and grow and become a part of the beautiful community we call home. Over 70 years ago, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta was born out of the grief Ed Hagler experienced upon losing his heroic son, 2nd Lt. Carter Hagler, in the Korean War. This tragic loss inspired Ed to mentor hundreds of kids in the Harrisburg mill neighborhoods who would otherwise go unsupervised after school. Ed recognized the benefit in giving kids a productive way to pass the time and believed they deserved the chance to a brighter future. In the decades since, our local Boys & Girls Clubs have steered young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Through a rich offering of after school and summer enrichment programs, Boys & Girls Club members develop their talents and discover a world ripe with opportunity and promise. With the caring guidance and encouragement of Club staff, young people in need cultivate the skills, accountability, and optimism they need to be successful in life.

The Equality Clinic of Augusta is a dedicated team of volunteers, including doctors, pharmacists, dentists, physician assistants, psychiatrists, and students from each discipline, who have come together to fill the gap in care for the LGBTQ+ community in Augusta, the CSRA, and the surrounding regions. We provide free healthcare services to those who are under- or un-insured and fall below 200% of the federal poverty level. Our services include primary care, gender transitioning support, HIV screening, PrEP, dental check-ups, mental health support, and more—all free of charge.
