H O N O R I N G T H E A L A B A M A P O U LT R Y P I O N E E R S The modern Alabama poultry industry, which now contributes more than $15 billion to the state’s economy, is a true American success story. With humble beginnings in the early 1900s, the Alabama poultry industry began to innovate and advance rapidly in the post-World War II era. The evolution of the industry into today’s modern food industry is the direct result of the commitment, contributions and resolve of a distinct group of remarkable individuals who have been honored through their induction into the Alabama Poultry Hall of Fame. While the Alabama Poultry and Egg Association manages and maintains the Alabama Poultry Hall of Fame, we now have JOHNNY ADAMS CEO, ALABAMA POULTRY & EGG ASSOCIATION

the unique opportunity to further develop the Hall of Fame to fully capture and tell the story of these industry pioneers to future generations. Through the partnership of the Alabama Poultry and Egg Association and the Auburn University Department of Poultry Science, an interactive public visitors center in which the Alabama Poultry Hall of Fame will be showcased is being developed for debut in 2018. We invite you to join this partnership and support this effort. Your financial support is critical in making this project a reality, and more importantly, preserving the rich history and heritage that the Alabama Poultry Hall of Fame represents. S TA N D I N G O N T H E S H O U L D E R S O F G I A N T S The Alabama Poultry and Egg Association established the Alabama Poultry Hall of Fame as a way of recognizing and honoring the contributions of industry leaders who were instrumental in advancing the state’s poultry industry. The current Hall of Fame has 53 members, representing a remarkable class of innovators, entrepreneurs, educators, researchers and visionaries. Today’s modern poultry industry is the direct result of the contributions of these individuals. Thus, the Alabama Poultry Hall of Fame represents a wealth of history and heritage that should be preserved and enhanced.

OUR UNIQUE OPPORTUNIT Y Through a lead gift by the family of Alabama Poultry Hall of Fame member Charles C. Miller Jr., along with many other generous donors, the Auburn University Department of Poultry Science and College of Agriculture have established the Charles C. Miller Jr. Poultry Research and Education Center. The fifth facility of this center, the Administration-Education Building, is currently under construction, with scheduled completion in early 2018. This 8,000-square-foot facility will serve as the Miller Center’s flagship building. Approximately 1,200 square feet has been designated for an interactive visitors center devoted to the Alabama poultry industry, in which the Alabama Poultry Hall of Fame will be showcased. Through this display, we will be able to feature the past, present and future of the poultry industry in an interactive and dynamic manner. In doing so, we will have the unique opportunity to fully capture and preserve the stories of these industry pioneers for future generations.

THE TIME IS NOW Many members of the Alabama Poultry Hall of Fame were pioneers of our state’s thriving poultry industry. They were true innovators, and they knew the value of grit, determination and hard work. They built with their own hands what is today Alabama’s leading agricultural industry. Their sacrifices, their values and their vision were vital to building the industry we have today. The time is now to honor their legacy. The time is now to preserve their stories for future generations.

H O N O R I N G T H E PA S T A N D SECURING THE FUTURE The strong and historic partnership of the Alabama Poultry and Egg Association and Auburn University has enabled this unique opportunity to not only honor our rich history and heritage, but also to promote our success story to a wide audience, particularly future generations. This new visitors center will showcase our pioneers, promote our industry and excite young people about our vast educational and career opportunities. At the same time, the Miller Center will be the site for education, research and outreach to continue the advancement of the Alabama poultry industry.

FROM VISION TO RE ALIT Y We have developed a concept of the Hall of Fame and Visitors Center within the Administration and Education Building with a target completion date in 2018 when the building opens. Private and corporate philanthropic gifts totaling $600,000 are essential for us to achieve this goal. Honoring the founders of our industry is a privilege we want to share with you. With that in mind, the Alabama Poultry and Egg Association and the Auburn University Department of Poultry Science invite you to join us in this project and help us create a tribute befitting the men and women who laid the foundation for the thriving industry we enjoy today.
