PRODUCTS
A Snapshot
Luton & Dunstable University Hospital sought a more cost-effective, energy-efficient LED lighting installation as well as one that creates a welcoming ambience throughout the hospital, as part of a £6m refurbishment.
Aurora upgraded existing fittings to LED, which were primarily tungsten halogen and fluorescents. Creating a safe, clean and friendly environment was a core objective; “It is extremely important that patients feel as at ease and as comfortable as they can and this is especially important in places such as the consultancy rooms.”
Leslie Barras, Mechanical & Electrical Capital Projects Manager, Luton & Dunstable University Hospital
Outcome
Aurora’s strategy led to energy savings of 46%, improved patient experience and enhanced definition for CCTV monitoring. Outdoor lighting replacements save approximately £15,000 in an 8-year period.
“Luton and Dunstable University Hospital is pleased to report a good saving on costs has been achieved and we are well into payback of the initial capital project investment.”
Leslie Barras concludes:
“We are now entering into phase 2 & 3 of the works, as we are pleased with the choice of Aurora lighting, providing a complete lighting range as specified and the technical back up provided, along with a good warranty period on products.”
