Mixed Use Development Concept 2020

Concept: Market rate housing mixed with street front retail space. 64 units commprising of studios, one bedroom units, and two bedroom units. Tenant amenities include bike storage, courtyard, and dining room. My Role: Advanced Schematic Design in Revit. Code research.

Health Clinic Prototypes

2020-1

Verday Health Concept To combat the unmet demand for healthcare in small and rural communities these health clinics provide flexible and efficient modular designs to match the users needs. These clinics take advantage of drive-thru care, behavioral health, and telehealth to get effective care to remote regions. Program: The parking pod is the scaled down clinic with drive thru pharmacy and telehealth room. The larger clinic is a walk-in clinic, telehealth space, and a drive-in treatment bay. My Role: Designed and modeled prototypes in Revit for marketing the project. 













2021 Union of Reform Judaism

Location: Santa Rosa, CA Program: 9,000 SF Cabin Dormitories. New cabin dormitories, bunk houses with bathrooms and deck space, and strategic landscaping that creates opportunity for communal gatherings. My Role: Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Admin.

Camp Newman: Village 2 - Retreat Lodge

2021-2 Union of Reform Judaism

Location: Santa Rosa, CA Program: A Jewish youth retreat center faculty housing lodge. During non-camp seasons the space hosts corporate retreats. Hosts 28 two bed units, break out rooms, a lounge, retreat space, laundry, storage, and prayer ark. My Role: Lead Designer. Schematic Design + Site Planning. Design Development and Construction Documents. CDs performed in collaboration with David Taylor.

Kettlebell Exercise Weights 2020 - Industrial Design

A kettlebell is usually a large cast-iron ball-shaped weight with a single handle. I made my own set of weights at 12lbs, 18 lbs, 26 lbs, 35 lbs, 44 lbs, 53 lbs, and 62 lbs out of concrete with steel handles cast in place. The concrete was cast in molds I cut out of melamine board. The molds size and geometry were determined according to my volumetric model in Rhino. The handles I outsourced to both metal fabricators and blacksmiths with mixed results. I have also sold seven of these, so far, to friends and family. Formwork An octahedron shape was generated since it has minimal sharp angles, and structurally, the form holds together well under the stress and weight of concrete casting. Melamine was selected for it’s smoothness allowing easy release from the concrete when curing is done.

Sculpting The octahedron shape of the formwork is robust to keep the form together during casting, but the resulting form isn’t ergonomic for lifting, specifically on the forearms. So I used a stone grinder to shave down the edges.

Stabilizing While ergonomic, the resulting form needed a platform base, so once again used the stone grinder to carve out a base. 5

Coating Concrete while strong is not soft or ergonomic so the final coat was sprayed and painted on black plastic for added protection.
