Name of the business: St. Marks Living Owner(s) of the business: Managed by Ecumen Company Please provide a brief history of the company: St. Marks was started in 1963. We provide Skilled Nursing Care, Reliable Rehabilitation Services, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Independent Senior Living, all under one roof. How many employees do you have? 136 employees
Tell us a little about your business. What are your specialties? We offer multiple services to seniors no matter where they are in their lives. Our trained staff assess and work within all areas of the community to make the next transition of care for the resident as smooth as possible. Our discharge team assesses and coordinates care for the residents. The levels of care coordinated can be home health care, assisted living, memory care, or long term care. We provide quality professional care 24hrs/day. Our caring staff also provide Hospice care for those at end of life. We utilize local, outside hospice agencies to provide the extra level of comfort that our residents deserve. We offer all areas of care for the residents within one building and work together as a team to continue to provide the best care possible for the aging community.
course is open to our current staff and to the public. We also have a Unit Attendant Program where we hire employees to assist the CNA’s on the floor. It’s a 3 month program with 4 hr shifts. At the end of the 3 months, they can choose to enroll in our CNA program and can sign a posting to work as a CNA here or they can opt to leave if they wish. We also started a Peer Mentoring Program where our experienced staff train new staff coming in to help them feel welcome and for continuity of training while offering a friendly smile and welcoming presence.
What sets you apart from other companies and why? I feel that our community offers many care services to the Aging Community from Independent Living apartments, Assisted Living Apartments, Memory Care , Rehabilitation and Long Term Care, all under one roof. We have a contract with the Veteran’s Administration which allows us to provide caring, quality services to our Veterans.

What are your goals for the upcoming year? Our goals for the upcoming year are to bring in more staff with our CNA course and to get the word out about all the of the services we provide. We renovated our rehabilitation unit, assisted living, and our front entrance. Come see the new areas and experience all of the care services that we provide. We are also starting a new venture with Ecumen Home Health and Hospice Care Services. Ecumen will be providing home care and hospice services to Southern Minnesota; Their main office will be in Owatonna however, they will cover the counties of Blue Earth, Dodge, Faribault, Goodhue, Le Sueur, Mower, Nicollet, Olmstead, Rice, Sibley, Steele, and Waseca. Ecumen is not new to home care and hospice services. They currently have offices in North Branch, Litchfield and the Twin Cities area. St. Marks is excited to start this new adventure with Ecumen. Their hospice company is a Non-profit organization that is community based and contracted with the Veterans Administration. Home Health is Medicare certified and can bill all insurances. They have experienced staff with Care Coordinators and nursing staff to provide the best care possible for the aging communities in our surrounding areas. We are excited to start these services with Ecumen in upcoming moths.
What are some of the new things your business is doing? What are you most proud to tell customers, and why? We are excited to let you know that we have embarked on a few new adventures here at St. Marks.
