BUSINESS REVIEW Name of the business: Thoroughbred Carpets Owner(s) of the business: Joe Huffman Please provide a brief history of the company: Rich Huffman & Doug Murphy originally opened the business in 1993 in Downtown Austin. In December 2009, Thoroughbred Carpets moved to the Marketplace Center due to the construction of the Jail and Justice Center. We are still currently located in the Marketplace Center next to the Eagles Club. How many employees do you have? 4 flooring crews and two in store Tell us a little about your business. What are your specialties? Carpet – From removing old carpet to installing new. Tile – Kitchens, backsplashes, and even porcelain for bathrooms. Hardwoods – Pre-finished hardwoods and laminates are great for high traffic and living areas. Sheet Vinyl & Vinyl Tile – Great alternatives that have great durability and design. What are some of the new things your business is doing? What are you most proud to tell customers, and why? We can help on your remodeling project or help find the perfect floor for your new home. Family owned and operated. Same friendly service from start to finish. We stand behind all our materials and labor. What sets you apart from other companies and why? Family owned and operated, you deal with the same employees from start to finish and beyond. No customer service people and the run around you get at big box stores. This has been both my father’s and my life’s work. We are very knowledgeable in our field and offer nothing but friendly service. What are your goals for the upcoming year? Making sure every customer is happy with our service, materials, and labor. From a small bathroom to your whole house. We are more than just carpet.
