Hayfield went 25-5 overall as its season came to an end in a 75-63 loss to eventual Minnesota Class A state champion Lyle-Pacelli in the Section 1A title game. The Vikings were led by seniors Carrie Rutledge, who averaged 14.5 points per game, Maggie Streightiff, who averaged 13.8 points per game and Olivia Matti, who averaged 14 points per game. While Hayfield wasn’t able to make it to its first state tournament since 2008, Streightiff and her teammates appreciated the success they had together. “It’s been a really, really fun year. We’ve gotten along so well,” Streightiff said after the loss to LP. “Our group of seniors is really close and it’s hard to end.”
