Over the 65 years of its existence, many changes have occurred to keep the organization viable. From a variety of changes to the campus footprint in Osage and new building construction of the St. Ansgar Clinic, to the formation of a Physician Hospital Organization (PHO) through a partnership with Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. aging Services upgrade their mammography technology to 3D digital mammography – MCRHC is the only health center in North Iowa offering this state of the art technology. 3D mammography offers a more accurate, clinically proven breast cancer screening exam that reduces the possibility of a repeat mammogram by 40%, allows for better, earlier breast cancer detection and detects 41% more invasive breast cancers.

What sets you apart from other companies and why? MCRHC clinics and providers strive to simply see patients. Appointment access to our clinics is great! Patients can typically get in either the same day for acute situations, such as colds and flu. First available appointments for physicals are usually within one week.

with existing cash and tax free debt, repaid only using hospital revenues. Therefore, no additional property taxes will be used for this building project. MCRHC has a strong strategy around physician recruitment, stating this as the top priority and strategy to prepare Mitchell County Regional Health Center for the future. One aspect of the strategy is to provide medical residents and medical students an opportunity to complete their clinical rotations within our MCRHC clinics. The ultimate goal being that these healthcare professionals will have ongoing exposure to our organization giving MCRHC an advantage when they are seeking permanent sites for their future practice. The expansion is a key step in provider recruitment. Our current space is limited with several providers sharing offices and treatment rooms. The current footprint of the Osage campus makes offering new services, such as additional family care providers and social workers, challenging.

What are your goals for the upcoming year? After nearly two years of research and planning, on May 30 , the Mitchell County Regional Health Center will break ground on a $12.5 million building expansion and renovation project for the Osage campus. The affected areas of the expansion include the Osage Clinic and helipad, the main entrance into the building, as well as the rehabilitation services department. Renovation areas include the Osage Clinic, hospital registration and emergency department entry. See http://www.mcrhc. com/building-project-2017 for more information on the building project.
