Name of the business: Perkins Restaurant & Bakery Owner(s) of the business: TPI Hospitality, 100% employee owned Please provide a brief history of the company: Perkins Restaurant & Bakery of Austin is a proud member of the TPI Hospitality family. TPI Hospitality, originally born in 1930 as a men’s clothing retailer in Kerkhoven, Minnesota, is today the nation’s largest 100% employee-owned hospitality company. Perkins Austin opened its doors in October of 1990 as TPI’s second Perkins location. Over the years, Perkins Austin has served the citizens of Austin with not only a great dining experience, but with a steadfast support of the entire community. How many employees do you have? 50 employees Tell us a little about your business. What are your specialties? Perkins Austin offers a wide range of menu items to please even the most demanding guest. Whether it’s starting the day with o u r wo rl d - f a m o u s p a n cakes, enjoying a Chicken Strip Melt for lunch, or relaxing with a fresh baked Chicken Pot Pie for dinner, our guests
can rest assured that their meal will be made fresh and delivered with a smile. A unique aspect of the restaurant is the bakery, where everything is baked fresh daily. Scrumptious cookies, Mammoth muffins, rich cream pies or fantastic fruit pies are served any time of day, and everything is available to go. Mmmmmm… What are some of the new things your business is doing? What are you most proud to tell customers, and why? The Perkins Austin team is extremely proud to be employee owners. As employee owners, we understand the responsibility we have to our guests and co-workers to deliver a memorable experience. Employee ownership provides us an opportunity to not only be part of the restaurants success, but to drive that success. Together, we hold each other accountable for creating exceptional results. What are your goals for the upcoming year? To do whatever it takes to deliver a great dining experience to every guest.

Our vision statement, “Whatever it takes for outrageous guest service, YOU have the power!” means that every employee, no matter what his/ her role is, is empowered to do whatever he/she feels is necessary to deliver outrageous guest service. This type of autonomy acts to create win-win outcomes, meaning, the guests wins because they have a great dining experience, and the employee wins because it just feels great to exceed a guest’s expectations. Perkins just rolled out a brand new Menu on May 1. The menu has 20 new items to try, including a Strawberry Menu section which features strawberry pie.
