Like Grandma’s chicken noodle soup, Smart Clinic offers a healing dose of medical care in Austin. They certainly have the ingredients to make you feel more comfortable about going to the clinic. This family medicine clinic opened its doors in August 2013 and is located within Sterling on Main on 1st Avenue SW. Since then the nurse practitioners and LPNs have treated strep throat, high blood pressure, diabetes, skin infections and more. So what’s so special about Smart Clinic? “We aren’t a factory that rolls patients in and out all day—we’re dedicated to providing friendly, tender care for most medical needs,” said Dee Anderson, clinic director and nurse practitioner. “From the obvious concerns, like strep throat, to more specialized requests, like DOT exams, we pretty much do it all.” Being based in a retail store may give people the impression that Smart Clinic is for urgent care, otherwise known as convenience care, only. While that is a significant part of what the caregivers provide, their greater mission is family care, with total health for all members as their top priority. Courtesy and convenience are what you can expect from Smart Clinic. “Where else can someone park this close to the front doors?” Dee asked. “Where else can a mother schedule a same-day appointment for her sick child? Where else can someone receive a physical on a Saturday?” At Smart Clinic, you are greeted with a friendly smile and by name. Nurses take the time to ask about you—and about your family as well. And while the staff works hard to see you in
a timely fashion, they don’t simply turn around and rush you out the door either. You can even stop by to ask your provider a quick question and not get billed for it. The nurse practitioners at Smart Clinic have a total of over 25
ists if needed. The licensed practical nurses are equally experienced and support the providers by conducting tests, giving immunizations and injections, drawing blood, registering patients and verifying insurance.

explained. “We have the ability to get to know you and fully understand all of your medical needs, all from a more individual and comprehensive viewpoint.” Smart Clinic has been described by some as a “hidden gem” in Austin. Patients are amazed when they come to the clinic for a simple flu shot and realize they can bee seen for their DOT exam, annual physical, well-child visit or Sports Physical. The clinic is clean, bright, comfortable and personal. The staff is friendly, qualified and professional. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged to help minimize the wait time. Smart Clinic accepts cash and most insurances. So, there it is. The winning recipe of Smart Clinic. Stop by 1305 1st Avenue SW, Austin, MN inside Sterling Main Street or contact 507-4370036 for appointments or questions.
