Texas House Recognizes Mar. 20 As Pakistan Day Of Action, Many State Reps Show Support
The 88th legislative session is on in Texas and while working on house bills, the Texas House of Representatives passed two resolutions commemorating Mar. 20 as Pakistan Day of Action and Mar. 23 as Pakistan Day at the State Capitol in Austin on Mar. 20.
The resolutions were put forward by District 92 State Representative Salman Bhojani and District 76 State Representative Dr. Suleman Lalani, both of Pakistani American heritage and freshman state representatives in the Texas House.
“The State of Texas joins Pakistanis in celebrating Pakistan Day and in promoting diversity, inclusion, education, and the appreciation of Pakistani culture and the Pakistani community residing in our state,” House Resolution 581 put forward by Dr. Lalani said.
District 92 State Rep Salman Bhojani who put forward House Resolution 600 recognized the presence of more than 600,000 Pakistani Americans living in the U.S., and over 87,000 individuals of Pakistani heritage in Texas including Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio.
The resolution recognized “seven and a half decades of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the U.S.” as well as the Pakistani American community that “contributes to the vibrancy and prosperity of the Lone Star
