Chinmaya Mission Austin completed another successful year of their Bala Vihar Program.

Bala Vihar is a cultural and spiritual value-based education program for students from Pre-K to 12th grade that aims to create balanced and integrated individuals, positively contributing to society.

There were16 graduates this year who were recognized at a wonderful graduation ceremony on May 21st at Chinmaya Sundaram.

The 2023-24 session of Bala Vihar will begin on Aug. 13th and registration will open in July. All classes take place in-person at Sun- daram on Sundays with Session 1 from 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM and Session 2 from 11:30 AM - 1 PM.

Conducted worldwide, the 90-min- ute classes (half hour assembly followed by one hour class) are based on a specifically laddered, dynamic curriculum, with the aim of accomplishing the Bala Vihar rationale set forth by Swami Chinmayananda:

1. To instill in our children a reverence for our ancient culture (San- athana Dharma), and inspire them to live up to it with correct knowledge and understanding

2. To provide an atmosphere that will enable our children to imbibe noble ideals, healthy emotions, and physical discipline

3. To create self-confidence that will enable them to serve and act cheerfully

4. To inculcate personal discipline, dynamic leadership, and genuine affection in all contacts.

5. To mold their capacity to brilliantly express their unique individuality

6. To bring out their dormant faculties, and to cultivate and improve their creative abilities.

7. To help children develop a healthy attitude and balanced outlook that will help them navigate personal challenges and situations
