Autel’s third European Meeting ended a few days ago. After the event got cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, the 2021 edition brought us a totally new experience.

In addition to the traditional business meetings with our Sales Managers, we found the time for moments of celebration and conviviality. 2021 Autel European Meeting. Three days of meetings and live demonstrations for our European distributors. This special event, the Annual European Meeting, took place from July 7 to 9, 2021. Autel welcomed its partner distributors for three days full of meetings, live demonstrations, as well as fun and conviviality. The exhibition hall of Ruote da Sogno, in the beautiful city of Reggio Emilia, was the selected location of the event. Ruote da Sogno is a huge, museum-like facility which over the years has hosted meetings and events of international renown. Inside an actual vintage car museum located in the Italian Motor Valley, the guests were able to view all the new products that Autel will introduce in the near future, including the long-awaited EV Charger for the charging of electric vehicles. The constant innovation was the main focus of the event: starting from cornerstones like ADAS, Key Programming and Diagnostics, Autel presented all the new products that will be released in 2021. “One of the most satisfying things was seeing the wide participation of all our distributors. A greatly

motivated team that grows more and more every day” says Licong “Ruby” Wang, Autel’s Chief of Operation Officer. Many thanks also came from the Sales Managers attending the meeting, who were able to see their customers again after a difficult and trying period due to COVID-19. “Three busy days that involved the entire staff of Autel Europe, a great team effort that made it possible to create a unique event for our distributors”, Luca Scattolin pointed out. The 2021 European Meeting: showroom, live demonstrations and much more... Three days rich in emotions, let’s dive in! The sun rises over the hills of Emilia Romagna: it’s July 8th and the most important day of the 2021 meeting is here.

Wednesday, July 7th was the opening day of the 2021 European Meeting organized by Autel for all its distributors. A day to welcome all the guests, that started with a visit to the museum of Ruote da Sogno, an area of over 800 square meters that showcases some of the most famous vintage cars of brands such as Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, but also racing cars, such as the famous Dallara, a brand born in these territories. Visitors were able to see these marvels of automotive design up close, finishing the tour at the workshop where all the cars of Ruote da Sogno are prepared and set up. After a few quick greetings the guests were accompanied to a beautiful location, Villa Prampolini. A famous villa from the mid-50s, an amazing setting for a convivial and cheerful dinner. The morning dedicated to the annual meeting with the distributors, hosted by Silvia Sanna (Head of Sales Office for Autel Europe), saw a lot of well-known company figures, as well as some new faces who, with their speeches, presented to the audience all the novelties that Autel will introduce to the market in the upcoming months. Licong Wang expressed positive and confident words about the cooperation between Autel and its distributors, with the surprise of a video message from CEO Hongjing (Frank) Lee, wishing everyone a happy 2021 European Meeting. Then, Marcin Gębala took the stage to present what’s new for Autel Diagnostics, with the novelty of remote diagnosis.

Among the new products, MaxiSys CV could not be missed: Autel technician specialist Yan Mounir showed to the public all the advantages and potentialities of an innovative product for the market of heavy vehicles that will be released in September 2021. A large market that Autel wants to conquer thanks to its advanced diagnostic tools. Carlo Alberto Turco and Massimo Girlanda, ADAS Sales Managers, spoke about the massive increase

Autel takes center stage with a rich program to present the new products, with many well-known company members, as well as some new faces that brought their expertise in the Autel Europe team. in vehicles equipped with driver assistance systems across Europe, and how they now represent one of the most coveted market segments for all automotive manufacturers. One of Autel’s most sought-after and best-selling products, the MaxiSys IM series, could not be left out. These products were presented by Alessandro Moroni, Autel’s Sales Manager, accompanied by Giorgio Mastrippolito, a new member of the Autel family, specialized in key programming. Last but not least, our three TPMS Sales Managers, Stefan Lubusch, John Sanderholm and Valentino Poljarevic, showcased some of the best-selling products, such as ITS600 and TBE200, and gave an official preview of the new 1-Sensor PL, a pre-programmed sensor that will revolutionize the market of sensors.

A new chapter for Autel began with the speech of Cai Ting and the introduction of a new Sales Manager, Mervyn Roxas. For the first time, the new products for the charging of

electric vehicles were revealed to the public. A great innovation that allows Autel to enter a fast-developing market (see the full article at page 12). Closing the meeting, Luca Scattolin (General Manager) was joined on stage by Silvia Sanna (Head of Sales Office) to present the new platform for order management. An online platform created for all distributors, who will now be able to handle all orders and inquiries regarding Autel products. After a quick lunch inside the Ruote da Sogno automotive show, the event concept totally changed, reaching the heart of the day. The showroom’s doors opened to the visitors to enjoy an exhibition

of all Autel products, accompanied with our specialized technicians ready to describe the features and functionalities of the tools, together with video tutorials. An area completely dedicated to EV Chargers hosted a Tesla being recharged. A great opportunity to see live the operation of the brandnew wall charging module for home environments. In the dedicated room, Autel Sales Managers could meet their distributors to discuss new business proposals, especially regarding the innovations introduced during the event. Meanwhile, in the main room took place a live show with our specialized technicians Marcin and Michael. They demonstrated the functioning of the products live, answering the questions and welcoming the impressions of the audience. A successful event that helped to strengthen Autel’s vision of interest and development in training its distributors and customers in the correct use of the products. A commercial vehicles area could not miss, a space dedicated to the MaxiSys CV where our tester technicians Yan and Giorgio performed live the diagnosis on a bus.

IN THE PICTURE: THE EUROPEAN MEETING 2021 GALA DINNER

In the lovely main room prepared for the soiree, all the participants could taste a special menu composed by the typical flavors of the Emilia region. A pleasant evening, full of fun, characterized by music and performances that delighted the guests during dinner. On stage, Luca’s charisma and sympathy brought moments of pure fun, such as the drawing of the prizes offered by Autel with a lottery for its distributors. As final touch, Autel gifted all the participants of the meeting with a plaque and awarded the distributors who achieved the best sales in the years 2019 and 2020. To conclude, a grand finale consisting of a live musical performance of Ruby and Lide Su, finally closing with a special dance exhibition on the music of the famous musical Grease, which involved the entire staff of Autel Europe in front of an amused audience.

In the evening, one of the most anticipated moments of the European Meeting 2021 arrived: the Gala dinner gathered more than 150 guests from all over Europe, included the whole Autel Europe team! All guests were welcomed by a special entrance with red carpet, where they could pose for a souvenir photo of the evening that would soon begin.

MUSIC, PERFORMANCES AND… PRIZE LOTTERY! A very successful interlude was certainly the prize lottery that Autel arranged for its distributors. On stage, Silvia, Ruby and Luca drew the prizes in front of an enthusiastic audience, ready to win and bring back home Autel products. The lucky distributors did appreciate all the prizes to be won, from the practical TBE200 to more advanced diagnostic tools such as the MaxiSys Ultra.

The evening could not end without the final greeting with the appointment in 2022. In thanking all participating distributors, Autel wanted to introduce the great team that works behind the scenes of this great company every day. GREEN ENERGY POWERS THE FUTURE 3.8 MILLION EV CHARGERS BY 2026 MERVYN ROXAS, UK SALES MANAGER, TALKS ABOUT THE NEW EV CHARGER BY AUTEL. The innovation race in the auto industry is accelerating at an almost unbelievably rapid pace. There’s not a country in the world that wants to miss the train and governments across the globe are investing in the infrastructure necessary to enable electric vehicles to drive on their roads. Revolutionising the road transport system means huge opportunities going forward, and the major players are delighted with the potential for new business. New electric cars will replace existing diesel and petrol models, while at the same time there will be changes in the ownership model itself. Everywhere you look, there are new competitors who are eager to become market leaders. Owning a vehicle, for many young people, is no longer an absolute must. That puts two kinds of AUTEL #MAGZ | 12

pressure on car makers: Firstly to create designs that are more attractive, visually and financially as well as secondly, to create products that may not have a single owner. Speaking at Autel’s recent panEuropean launch conference, Head of EV Sales and Strategy, Mervyn Roxas, laid out his vision for how ‘Green energy will power the future’. “For every electric vehicle being sole, there are three opportunities for the sale of a charger”, said Roxas. “Consumers will want a charger at home, at their place of work and in between – for example at the shops, libraries and other public buildings”. “In a country like the UK, for example, where it’s typical for the market to buy 2.5 to 3 million vehicles a year, that creates a massive opportunity for companies like Autel”, explained Roxas. “It’s easy to see European markets reaching millions of installations a year by as early as 2026”. “Alongside the ability of consumers to purchase their own chargers,

HOW DOES EV CHARGING WORK? You most likely charge your cell phone or computer often, even if you don’t know a lot about electricity. You just plug in the device and go about your day. EV charging is similar, It connects the battery in your car with a power source that can charge it. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes, but as an EV driver, you don’t have to worry about it. Most power outlets use AC or alternating current. Batteries

There are three main types of EV charging: Level 1, Level 2, and DC fast. Level 1 and 2 convert AC to DC using an on-board converter in the EV. Each vehicle’s on-board converter has specific limits on how fast it can charge. With DC fast charging, the conversion from AC to DC happens in the charging station, not in the EV, this allows stations to supply more power, charging vehicles faster. Level 1 charging can be convenient for home use, but charges very slowly, offering about 5 miles of Range Per Hour (RPH). Level 1 is most useful when a vehicle will be parked for several hours. Some home chargers and most public charging stations are “Level 2.” These stations can add 12 to 25 RPH, depending on the type of EV and its on-board charger. Level 2 charging stations are ideal for times when you’ll be parked for at least an hour, such as at work, restaurants, movie theaters, sporting events or longer shopping trips. Level 2 charging will generally give you enough juice to get around town and works up to six times faster than Level 1 charging. DC Fast on long trips or when you’re pressed for time, you’ll probably want a faster charge to get where you’re going. DC fast charging can deliver 100 RPH or more, charging some EVs to 80 percent in 20-30 minutes. DC fast charging stations have various power levels. In general, higher power levels charge EVs faster. Check each DC fast charging station to find its power level. Charging speed may also depend on the type of charging port your EV has. Note that not all plug-in cars on the road today have a DC fast charging port, most plug-in hybrids can only charge at Level 1 or 2. 13 | AUTEL #MAGZ

By rationalising the supply chain from its manufacturing plants in China to the local resellers and installers in each of its target markets, Autel is also able to maintain a cost-price advantage over its competitors. Autel has launched a new range of EV charging units, which are flexible enough to cope with customers needing anywhere from single phase 7kW, through to triple phase 11kw and even 22kW – with advanced DC units ready to enter the market in the second half of 2022.

“Consumer charging habits will rapidly evolve over the next two years, as they start to understand that re-filling an EV is more like the cycle you use for a mobile phone than a petrol/diesel car”, explained Roxas. “Sure, it takes longer, but you can have a charger at home or at work – so it isn’t ‘dead time’. You can get a full charge while multi-tasking and going about your work/play”. The process of charging an EV is as simple as plugging it in. For commercial installations, there maybe an additional level of authorisation needed and perhaps payment authorisation, but the process is not complicated – it is similar to going to a petrol station. There are two kinds of power that can be used. At home or at offices without a special supply, you will use AC power – the same as other appliances you are familiar with. Indeed, most EVs come with a very simple charger cable that plugs into a household socket and gives you a small charge – which is colloquially called a ‘granny charger’. The most advanced chargers use direct current or DC, which is the same as the power used for street lights.

In this new environment the first two products of a brand-new line were developed: Autel Side Radar ASR100, for side and rear collision alert, and Autel Front Radar AMR100, for front collision alert.

Heavy-duty vehicles usually have more extended blind spots, located not only on the rear and on the passenger side, but also on the front, especially when the driver’s seat is in an elevated position. That’s why Autel designed the new anticollision radars to prevent accident caused by poor visibility. Hence the need to study a platform dedicated to all our distributors where, thanks to a simple access through a personal account, it is possible to have a general overview of the availability of all our products, current offers or any promotions that Autel offers to its distributors.
