This Aquidneck Island venue has stunning views whether you choose the restored stable, the vineyard site, the water view site, or the waterside site. Weddings held at Greenvale Vineyards will be memorable for couples and guests alike.

Greenvale Farm and Vineyards is located in Portsmouth, Rhode Island five miles from downtown Newport, where the owners grow and produce award winning wines from estate grown grapes. The farm is on the national and state registers of historic places and was built by the current owners; great-great-great uncle John Barstow. Although Greenvale is a little bit hidden away within the countryside of Aquidneck Island, the elegantly preserved landscape, historic architecture, and stunning views together create the ideal environment for your New England vineyard wedding.

Greenvale Vineyards was started by Nancy Parker, her husband Bill, and Nancy's parents Cortlandt

and Nancy Parker. When Sakonnet Vineyards in nearby Little Compton started to grow, Cort reached out to see if they would be interested in Greenvale growing for them. They learned that Greenvale produces excellent fruit, so they embarked on making our own wine. They started in 1982 and making wine in 1992. The wine style ranges from semisweet, effervescent wines to dry reds using their three Bordeaux varietals: cabernet franc, merlot, and malbec. All of the wines are grown right here at Greenvale.

Parker notes that one thing that's special about Greenvale Vineyards is that it is a family business - three generations in the wine business and six generations on the farm. To that end, they focus on conservation of open space and historic buildings; education for themselves and their guests about the value of historic preservation and what's entailed in grape growing and wine production; research on historic structures, the farm, and grape growing; and recreation, of course.

Greenvale offers a few different events spaces for couples to celebrate in. Those looking for a rustic indoor space can take advantage of the Greenvale Vineyards barn which can be transformed to match the style and atmosphere of your wedding day. There's also plenty of gorgeous waterfront space that could make for

a beautiful wedding day celebration. Greenvale Vineyards has enough space to host up to 200 of your friends and family. The engagement party, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception can all be held right here at Greenvale. If you're looking for a smaller ceremony, Greenvale also caters to elopements!

Located in the midst of the chardonnay vineyards with a spectacular view of the Sakonnet River and the beautiful farmland of Tiverton and Little Compton across the river, the ceremony site is dreamy and romantic. An aisle created between the chardonnay and old vine chardonnay vineyards creates a lovely place to exchange your vows and makes for an easy transition from ceremony to reception.

The beating heart of Greenvale is the restored stable built in 1863, making it the ideal space for smaller celebrations, such as birthday parties, rehearsal dinners, and weddings. The space is available for rent Sunday nights through Friday nights and includes the use of the beautiful bluestone terrace, accommodating up to 49 people. In colder weather, fire pits are put out to keep things warm and cozy while you enjoy the great atmosphere and scenic water views.

In addition to the restored stable,

Greenvale has event space in the vineyard, as well as a water view site and a waterside site. The vineyard site is located between the pinot verde and Cayuga vines and offers distant water views and access to the restored stable. The water view site can be found just below the cabernet franc vineyard and offers more of a water view than the vineyard, with a spectacular view over the chardonnay vines to the Sakonnet River. Finally, the waterside site is located in the front lawn of the main house and sits directly on the backs of the Savannah River. But no matter what site you choose, you can't go wrong with the breathtaking views at each of them. Tents can be put in all of these sites for sun and weather protection during your perfect event.

The main house was completed in 1865, and the logo on the wine bottles is actually the beautiful imported English Minton tile on the floor of the main house.

Greenvale, says Parker, is really good at making their guests feel at home, getting deep into wine discussions, and making sure their clients have the best possible wedding or special event, no matter what the occasion.

a lifetime moments – from catering to rentals to transportation of flowers, this list of expert vendors can help navigate all the details of your wedding while you sit back and relax, sipping on one of the incredible award-winning wines.

Greenvale is an important part of Portsmouth from a historic viewpoint and is one of the last remaining working farms with 76 acres of land along the Sakonnet River. The Parkers have found that it is very satisfying to see this beautiful historic farm making so many people happy – not just their guests but also the people attending the vineyards and the gardens!

Parker says that people like to work with them because they have a great sense of humor, which is vital since so much of what they do involves Mother Nature. “And of course,” says Parker with a smile, “we have no control over that.” The farm has a great vibe and people who are receptive to vibes get it right away. Everything stays relaxed and comfortable while at the same time remaining professional and responsible.
