CLOCKHOUSE

FIRST YEAR The purpose of this project was to create an inhabitable space from an uninhabitable object. I designed a house for a professional clockmaker and his family. In plan, the building resembles the circular gears found on the inside of a timepiece. In addition to this, I designed several parapet roofs of varying heights for an aesthetic element. With this project, I was able to grasp the concept of composite drawings and maintaining design concepts.

TU LAKEHOUSE

SECOND YEAR The purpose of this project was to aid us in understanding the structural side of architectural design and, more specifically, wood framing by designing a boat rental facility on the shores of Lake Tuskegee. I designed the building to be simple, yet functional with several places for adults, children, and families can enjoy their time on the lake.

EXPERIMENT MEMORIAL

PARTI

The number represents the 399 men involved in the experiment that had syphilis.

THIRD YEAR The purpose of this project was to introduce us to accessible ramps and walkways, as well as manipulating contours. The structures memorialize the men who participated in the Tuskegee Syphilis Study during the 1930s and their families.

12

EXPERIMENT MEMORIAL

The memorial site plan includes a ramp leading up to a tower, a ramp that moves visitors further down the site, a small amphitheatre with a stage, and a seating area around a fountain. The dashed lines represent contour lines, and the bold lines represent new ones.

GREENWOOD CENTER

SECOND YEAR The purpose of this project was to help us learn about site planning, sustainability, and wall sections. I created a three-story mixed-use development with commercial and community spaces on the first floor and two-level loft style aparments on the other floors. The apartments surrounded a courtyard, which promoted interaction between the resident. The building also featured several balconies and a green roof/patio for completely outdoor recreation.

N SITE PLAN

The Greenwood Center site plan includes parallel parking spaces for four, regular parking spaces for twelve, and dumpster pad, water feature, and accessible walks leading in several directions.

TUBMAN UNIV. LIBRARY

THIRD YEAR The purpose of this project was to create a potential design for a library on the campus of William V.S. Tubman University in Harper, Liberia. The concept for the library was derived from the African art of basket weaving and African textile patterns. The library includes an auditorium, tutorial spaces, several educational computer labs, and a teacher learning center.
