"Six month ago we bought an Acre of Land on ebay. We paid $700 via paypal but never got the deed. Ebay didn’t care, paypal didn¹t care. We were on our own. Who are you, we wondered? We thought about it, speculated, and then on July 31st, 2013 we set out to find you." About eteam Since 2001 eteam (Franziska Lamprecht and Hajoe Moderegger) traffic in transience. At the intersection of relational aesthetics, the Internet and land art, eteam coordinates collective happenings and conceptual transactions between the earthly plane and the realms of the interweb, often reconstructed in hypnotic video work, radio plays, or more recently novellas. Their projects have been featured at PS1 NY, MUMOK Vienna, Centre Pompidou Paris, Transmediale Berlin, Taiwan International Documentary Festival, New York Video Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, the 11th Biennale of Moving Images in Geneva, and the International Film Festival Rotterdam, among others. eteam is currently the Scholar in Residence in Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University. Dirt: A Joint Exhibition of Liam Magee and Phil Thompson
In this exhibition, Liam Magee continued to reflect upon his enquiry into objects and representation, and the dialogue between object and image. His latest works, Fruit Money and Object Studies, created during the two-month residency, reflects upon the fluidity of value placed on an object and explores how a photograph can question objecthood and re-assert an object’s presence. Phil Thompson’s work in Hong Kong has focused on how the area has become a hotspot for electronic waste after China tightened controls over the importation of waste over the past few years. His work addresses the moments where technology is taken outside of the system of use, broken down and reevaluated, becoming either raw materials once again, or entering the ground as toxic waste. This programme is sponsored by Mrs. So Chau Yim Ping.
“Dirt is essentially disorder. There is no such thing as absolute dirt: it exists in the eye of the beholder. If we shun dirt, it is not because of craven fear, still less dread of holy terror. Nor do our ideas about disease account for our range of behaviour in cleaning or avoiding dirt. Dirt offends against order. Eliminating it is not a negative movement, but a positive effort to organize the environment.” Mary Douglas - Purity & Danger
