WHAT’S HAPPENING IN AVA EDUCATION?
The AVA Education department may be small, but we are mighty (busy). A benefit to our size is the ability to innovate and pivot quickly. We read the comments from conference and course evaluations and plan our strategy with your comments in mind. We want to fill the unmet needs and offer the resources you request.
AVA members are busy professionals and students. We recently launched a new education offering, ‘IV League Learning’ with this in mind. The IV League learning series brings relevant topics to you every other Wednesday at 7:30 pm ET. These short (~15 minute) presentations introduce new concepts and keep attendees up to date on a variety of subjects. Go to www.avainfo.org/ ivleaguelearning to see a list of upcoming topics or check out an event you missed.
Clinical Practice Guidelines, led by AVA’s Blake Hotchkiss, is the pinnacle of AVA offerings. This group of dedicated volunteers has invested countless hours in support of this project. The team’s goal is to launch at AVA’s scientific meeting in 2024. The project’s search methods revealed thousands of articles for the teams to screen through to arrive at the most relevant published evidence for guideline development. More information will be shared about the project as the publication date grows closer. This being the first edition, our aim is to deliver the highest quality of evidence-based guidelines possible without exception.
AVA’s ISAVE That Webinar continues to thrive with great speakers and beautiful presentations. Know that AVA webinars are usually free for our members to attend. We have covered some informative content this year, including anatomical location and variations in valves in the venous system, improving the care surrounding short, long, and midline catheters, tissue adhesive and its application in the neonatal population, and vascular access considerations for patients receiving ECMO.
