Lighthouse Central Florida’s Sight & Sole WalkFest 2021
Lighthouse Central Florida recently held its “finish line” event to celebrate the completion of Sight & Sole WalkFest 2021. The virtual 30-day walking challenge is a fundraiser benefiting Lighthouse Central Florida’s vision rehabilitation services and programs. The virtual WalkFest encouraged participants to walk around their neighborhoods, on their treadmills or the location of their choice to raise funds and awareness for 30 days. Since 1976, Lighthouse Central Florida has provided education, independent life skills, and job training and placement to more than 100,000 people with sight impairment and their families. The organization is the only nationally accredited nonprofit offering a comprehensive range of vision-specific rehabilitation services in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. Lighthouse ensures that individuals of all backgrounds have the tools they need to lead productive, independent lives, while pursuing their dreams and goals without limitations.
Jetsetters of Avalon Park are in Full Swing
We have set up a calendar of events that include restaurants, outings to Lakeridge Winery, local gatherings right here in Avalon Park and talks of overnight trips out of town.
We encourage everyone in our group to get a vaccine and to continue wearing your masks when in close proximity groups. We have too many immune compromised members who want and need to participate in our outings and we owe them the courtesy and love of protecting them.
Our upcoming events include: May 6-Dinner at Eastside Bistro before trivia-6pm; May 10- lunch at Grillz at Port Canaveral-1pm; our regular monthly meeting which will be held on the “5th Floor“ courtesy of APG and Beat. (Please do not go to the SV Clubhouse). A light luncheon will be offered.
Keep an eye out fir the full May calendar and preparations for a BYO BBQ on Memorial Day Weekend.
