April Update from Pasco County Commission Chairman Mike Moore

I hope you all had a wonderful month of March and enjoyed time with your family and friends. We are now approaching one year of my column in the Avalon Park Sun, I greatly appreciate you taking the time to read about what is happening in our community and all over Pasco County.

Please make sure to continue following the guidelines from our health experts to fight the spread of COVID-19: wear a face covering when you cannot distance from others, wash your hands regularly, and avoid large groups. Vaccine rollout is continuing with all Floridians over age of 18 scheduled to become eligible on April 5, 2021. Please check out the Florida Department of Health in Pasco County’s website at pasco.floridahealth.gov for all the latest information.

On April 13th, I am partnering with Farm Share to bring another food distribution to our area. This is a great organization and I’m excited to help provide boxes of fresh food to our community. In May 2020, we hosted a food distribution that gave out 33,000 pounds of food to 700 cars with the assistance of 50 volunteers. This year’s distribution will begin at 9 a.m. on April 13th at The Grove Theatre, Bistro and Entertainment venue parking lot. The theatre is located at 6333 Wesley Grove Blvd, Wesley Chapel, FL 33544. This is a drive-thru only event. The flyer is with this column, please share this information with anyone you may know in need.

On March 25th, I had the privilege to join Pasco Fire Rescue Station 13 in a push-in ceremony for a new fire engine. This is a traditional ceremony for firefighters to welcome new fire engines or other equipment into service. The new engine has the latest technology to protect our Pasco firefighters while they provide the best possible service to our citizens. I am proud of my work as a Commissioner to prioritize public safety and I will continue to make sure our first responders have the best possible equipment to serve our community.

Every Friday morning, ABC Action News Good Morning Tampa Bay program focuses on a different community in our region. March 26th was Wesley Chapel’s turn in the spotlight! I greatly appreciate the station spending all morning focused on the great things happening in our area! They were live from the Wiregrass Ranch Sports Campus of Pasco County and had stories on growth of our tourism industry, Wesley Chapel District Park, road projects and many local residents and businesses.

As always, information changes fast. Please check out Pasco County’s website at MyPasco.net for all the latest information. Remember, we will continue to get through this by working together!
