New River Elementary’s Reptile Review
Principal Update:
Dear Reptile Families,
We’ve had a great start to the 2021 year and are working to set realistic and achievable goals with our students. We have had several changes to teachers and learning environments as we welcomed many students from online back into the brick and mortar classrooms. While we have tried to keep consistency, it has been difficult with the current pandemic. Thank you for your continued support in our effort to ensure that our students are learning and thriving.
Please continue to encourage your child to be reading at home. Starting in kindergarten, if a student reads 20 minutes a day at home, they will hear 1.8 million words per year. They will have read for 851 hours by 6th grade and on standardized tests, they will likely score better than 90% of their peers. Please look for our flyer coming home at the end of the week for our 2nd Virtual Scholastic Book Fair. Click on the following link to access the virtual book fair from January 25th- February 7th .
Thank you,
Colleen Wilkinson Principal cgwilkin@pasco.k12.fl.us
