Howdoweteachouryounggenerationtobe critical and discerning users of media? How do we help them develop that penchant to view social issues with the critical eye? How do we help them navigate their way through the sea of information floating about the world wide web?

This year, AI’s ALP team aims to enhance students’ social and media savviness through a mass curriculum programme, an external competition and an Advanced Elective Module.

CRITICAL ‘AI’WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE

What would you do if you see someone riding an electric scooter recklessly on a pavement and knocking someone down?

When asked to share about similar incidents that they know of, dozens of hands shot into the air as students were eager to contribute to the discussion. At AI, students don’t just learn about current affairs but engage in vibrant discussions on what they would do when they come across a social dilemma. This is just an example of how students look at social issues and get a chance to dig deeper into them.

Since 2017, the school has been carrying out programmes targeted at different levels of students. This year, using their newly-learnt media-literacy skills, Secondary 1 students conducted research to find trustworthy sources of information in order to produce
