The Assumption Restaurant for Training (The ART) /Evening at the Art

The Assumption Restaurant for Training (The ART) provides an opportunity for Culinary and Hospitality students to apply their acquired skills and knowledge in an authentic restaurant setting with real-life customers. Set up in 2011 to provide an on-the-job training (OJT) platform for students, the ART has been open to the public and sees strong community support for its efforts and mission.

To bring relevancy and opportunities for students to experience the F&B scene in Singapore, The ART invites renowned chefs to helm the kitchen for the night. They partner with our students in the kitchen in an event that is known as ‘Evening at the ART’. We are grateful to have these chefs take time out of their busy schedules to impart key skills and techniques that are prevalent in commercial kitchens & restaurant settings.

In the first half of 2022, we were privileged to have 2 acclaimed guest chefs partner us for Evening at the ART. Chef Ayo Adeyemi, who is Head Chef of Tippling Club has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants around the world while Chef Chua Yew Hock, Executive Chef of Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium, has over 30 years of experience working in 5-star establishments in Asia-Pacific. We intend to invite more guest chefs in the second half of 2022 to share their precious knowledge and skills to our students.

In July, our culinary students will be setting up their own hawker stalls in the al fresco area of the ART preparing local food. This allows our students to have a go at entrepreneurship, gain resilience as well as put into action what they have learnt in class. We hope that the public as well as Friends of the ART continue to support the students in their endeavours.
