AES NCC Sea saw its resumption of pre-COVID-19 activities after the easing of safe distancing measures. The Senior Cadets were able to go for Camp Steel in February this year and they developed strong bonds among themselves and learnt to show care for fellow cadets. The Junior Cadets also attended Camp FORGE at Amoy Quee Camp in July and they went through obstacle courses that tested them on their mental strength and built their resilience.
It was a meaningful and memorable experience for cadets as they got to participate and obtain their One-Star Kayaking Certification during the March holiday. This activity is much-awaited as water-based activities are one of our high points in the NCC Sea Unit.
With the water-based activities resuming, four cadet leaders also participated in the Mini Kayaking Expedition where they spent a day kayaking around the Kallang Basin and Marina Bay. It was not an easy feat to be on the kayak the whole day and congratulations to these cadets who managed to complete it!
Not only that, some of the Secondary 3 cadet leaders participated in the Pesta Sukan Dragon Boat Race held at the Water Sports Centre at Kallang. It was a tough and hard race for the boys, but they managed to complete the race with much resilience and perseverance!
MSG Lucas Wong Wen Jie, who served as the USM in 2021/2022, achieved the NCC Outstanding Cadet Award (Sea District) in 2022. This award is only given to a few cadets in Singapore, who have shown great contribution and leadership abilities in leading his unit in training and development. This reflected the sheer hard work and effort put in by the cadets coming to fruition.
“Through working with my fellow leaders and Teacher Officers, I had the opportunity to come up with different initiatives to make our training more enjoyable. As the USM, I led my unit by teaching cadets new things, providing feedback so that they can improve. By doing so, I am able to impart my knowledge and skills to them.” – MSG Lucas Wong Wen Jie (USM 2021/2022)
Through engagement in different activities, AES NCC Sea will continue to provide cadets with the opportunity to grow and become dependable men. To serve with pride and dedication, NCC!
