GIRL GUIDES
AES Girl Guides 1st COY is part of the international Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Movement, governed by The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), a global association supporting female-oriented and female-only Guiding and Scouting organisations. Our mission is to enable girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world.
As Guides, they live by the motto “Be Prepared” which means they will be ready to cope with anything that comes their way. During their CCA sessions, they learn core values such as discipline, respect and independence. They also bond with one another through games and spending time together.
Despite the restrictions during COVID-19, the AES Girl Guides still went through a series of fun and challenging programmes and unique experiences which helped them to develop a sense of confidence and self-assurance, along with vital leadership and life skills - all while learning through fun adventures and making lifelong friendships. The guides participated in various events, such as World Thinking Day, National Day Parade, West Division Day, West Division Campfire, and many more in the safety of their homes via online platforms.
Girl Guides Singapore celebrated World Thinking Day via YouTube Live. The theme for this year, ‘Our World, Our Equal Future’, calls us to centre our focus on the environment and gender equality. There was a live panel discussion on gender equality where the guides got to share their views and insights on gender equality.
The guides also participated in the West Division Day Competition. They did well and received 2nd Place in the ‘Pin It Up’ Competition where they designed their very own button badge as a pledge to increase awareness on the World Thinking Day Themes.

This year, AES Girl Guides received the Puan Noor Aishah Award (Gold) for the work that they put in last year. The guides truly worked hard for it and they hope that they will be able to achieve our fourth consecutive Gold Award next year. AES Girl Guides hopes that the future will present many more chances for them to share their Guiding spirit with the rest of the school and their country.
