The AES Choir aims to develop individuals with a passion for music through singing and appreciation of different music forms.
With the easing of COVID-19 measures, the choir began having face-to-face sessions which brought much joy to every member. We also started practicing repertoires of songs ranging from traditional to modern, which aims to hone our music appreciation and ability to perform with a wider range of song choices.
This year, we were invited to perform at a private performance held at The Arts House on 30 July. We were one of the first choirs in Singapore to perform outside of school after COVID-19 restrictions were relaxed! For the performance, the choir belted familiar pop song ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri, ‘Pure Imagination’ from the movie ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, and ended with a resounding high with the choir classic ‘Savoury Sage Rosemary and Thyme’ by Donald Patriquin.
In school, we also participated in our school’s combined aesthetics drama production ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ as well as sing-along sessions for the Mother Tongue Fortnight and National Day celebration.
Looking forward, the AES choir will be geared to prepare for more presentations and competitions ahead, spreading the joy of singing with others!
