The PE curriculum plays an important role in the social, emotional and physical growth and development of all AssumptionKnights. In AES, we cultivate P.L.A.Y. – “Purposeful Living Active lifestYle” in students through active learning and participation in sports and games and encouraging all to pursue a purposeful active lifestyle.
PE provides the opportunity for AssumptionKnights to learn and participate in a wide range of sports and games such as Badminton, Basketball, Football, Netball, Softball and Volleyball. Apart from acquiring the physical skills of the various sports, AssumptionKnights have fun learning and playing together in small groups and intraclass games as well as experiencing success during PE lessons.
The concept and knowledge of Physical Health, Strength and Fitness training are also taught to students to develop their core muscle groups and complement their participation in sports.
As part of the Outdoor Education (OE) module, the Secondary 3 students went on a hike along the Green Corridor to the old Bukit Timah railway station. The experience enabled them to be at ease with nature and prepared them for the year-end MOE-Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) Challenge Programme. Through the OE programme, we aim to develop the strengths in AssumptionKnights to overcome challenges in the outdoors and acquire life skills such as resilience and ruggedness.
The PE teachers will continue to encourage all AssumptionKnights to participate actively in sports and the outdoors to instill the values of teamwork, respect and perseverance in them.
