Overview Wood pellet manufacturing, handling and use for energy pose serious safety issues. Wood dust can lead to explosions and fires, pellets in storage can heat up, generate CO and even self-ignite. Safety and health issues can also occur in the supply chain and during end use as fuel in power plants and heating devices. This workshop should be the starting point of a dedicated effort of the wood pellet sector to enhance safety throughout the entire supply chain and use. The workshop will promote the exchange of know-how on measures to enhance safety, identify common issues that require further research and establish a network of cooperation in safety issues. The result of the workshop should be recommendations on “what needs to be done”.
Your chance to bring forward your specific pellets safety issues!
