Vikings Open with 28-6 Victory Over the New York Giants

MIAMI VIKES fans packed the house at the last season opener at the Downtowner Saloon

The Minnesota Vikings had an impressive start to the 2024 regular season with a 28-6 victory over the New York Giants. The team's performance set a strong tone for the season ahead.

Sam Darnold made a solid debut for the Minnesota Vikings, throwing for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Aaron Jones, Justin Jefferson, and Jalen Nailor each contributed a touchdown, while Andrew Van Ginkel added a defensive touchdown. The Vikings' defense dominated, sacking Daniel Jones and the Giants five times. The performance was so commanding that, by the fourth quarter, departing Giants fans at MetLife Stadium were replaced by the sound of Vikings fans doing the Skol chant, audible on the TV broadcast.

Vikings fans in South Florida gathered at the Historic Downtowner Saloon for the venue's final season opener event. The Downtowner Saloon is set to close on October 6, 2024, and until then, the MIAMI VIKES - MN Vikings Fan Club of South Florida will continue watching games there. After the closure, the fan club will move to the Ocean Manor Hotel in Fort Lauderdale's Galt Ocean Mile. The Ocean Manor Hotel features several venues, including The Tiki Bar, Casa Calabria, The Indoor Piano Bar, and the Tiki Hut Banquet Area, where the Vikings fans will meet after the transition. Interestingly, MIAMI VIKES was originally founded in 2009 at The Ocean Manor Tiki Bar, which has since undergone several renovations and improvements.

Two conservative businessmen recently met at the Downtowner Saloon in November, 2023. One of the businessmen owns a ranch in Minnesota and the other owns a ranch in Mississippi and Colorado. Both were donning cowboy boots, both shared the same business views and most importantly both of them are lifelong VIKINGS FANS!!!

It was clear as soon as they met that they would become lifelong friends!!!

Duluth Native C.J. Ham Wins His Two-Year Extension

Ham, a two-time team captain for the Vikings, enters his seventh season in the NFL in 2023. He has appeared in 96 games with 33 starts, all with Minnesota, totaling 610 yards and two touchdowns on 70 receptions and 97 yards and three touchdowns on 36 rushing attempts in his career The Duluth, Minnesota, native originally signed with the Vikings on May 10, 2016 as an undrafted free agent after attending the team’s rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. Ham, who was named a Pro Bowler after the 2019 season, attended Division II Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
