ETTA NAMED ONE OF THE MOST INNOVATIVE JEWISH ORGANIZATIONS IN LOS ANGELES LOS ANGELES – ETTA, the largest provider of housing and social services to adults with disabilities in the greater Los Angeles Jewish community, has been named one of 26 innovative Jewish organizations in Los Angeles in Slingshot Guide, a prestigious, nationally-recognized guide for Jewish innovation. The Guide has become a go-to resource for volunteers, activists and donors looking for new opportunities and projects that, through their innovative nature, will ensure the Jewish community remains relevant and thriving. According to Slingshot, this 12th annual guide will help expand the resources available to volunteers, activists and donors looking for new opportunities and projects that, through their innovative nature, will ensure that the Jewish community remains relevant and thriving. ETTA was selected from among hundreds of finalists reviewed by nearly 100 professionals with expertise in grant-making and Jewish communal life. Organizations included in this year’s Los Angeles edition were evaluated on their innovative approach, the impact they have in their work, the leadership they have in their sector, and their effectiveness at achieving results. “ETTA is honored to have been selected by Slingshot Guide as one of the most innovative Jewish organizations in Los Angeles,” Dr. Michael Held, ETTA executive director said. “It is a testament to the dedication of our Board, donors, staff and volunteers who for the past 24 years have made – and continue to make – a lasting impact on the lives of the people we serve and their families.” Added Stefanie Rhodes, Executive Director of Slingshot, which publishes the Guide each year, “Slingshot’s work is to help Jews find, fund and connect to meaningful, exciting experiences in Jewish life. After 12 years, the book remains relevant in a changing world because we continue to highlight organizations doing exceptional work, serving as the trailblazers for what is possible, and inspiring all of us. We congratulate ETTA on this remarkable achievement.” Founded in 1993, ETTA’s mission is to enable people with special needs, and the families who love them, to live fully enriched, and active lives through independence, inclusion and growth. ETTA provides comprehensive services to adults with special needs and their families, including: Residential and Supported Living; Life-Skills and Employment Opportunities (Adult day programs, job training, placement and supported employment); Educational, Social, and Recreational Programs; Summer@ETTA and Support, Volunteer and Leadership Groups. About the Slingshot Guide The Slingshot Guide, now in its twelfth year, was created by a team of young funders as a guidebook to help funders of all ages diversify their giving portfolios to include the most innovative and effective organizations, programs and projects in North America. The Slingshot Guide has proven to be a catalyst for next generation funding and offers a telling snapshot of shifting trends in North America’s Jewish community – and how nonprofits are meeting new needs and reaching new audiences. The book, published annually, is available in hard copy and as a free download at www.slingshotfund.org. Contact: Harvey Farr (310) 470-3644 SHIRAZ MAGAZINE
